can i use quidco?helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
We bought Norton and it crashed our PC every time it ran - we then got free AVG then paid for AVG which isn't any kore than £20 i don;t think for quite a lot of years.
we had issues with zone alarm though.0 -
I too used to be a Norton fan and tried most variants after getting rid of it around 2001.
For me it was a resource hog and pretty well became more of a nuisance than anything else.
As I'm a bit of a pc geek these days I normally get asked by friends to have a "quick look" at the pc for them with regular monotony. In a good few cases in the past year the only problem with was actually Norton.
Remove Norton and install AVG etc and they were good to go. Now some of them decided that as they had paid for Norton and as AVG was free they were somehow losing out and reloaded Norton and were somewhat surprised to find they had problems once more
As far as I'm concerned they cocked up their whole product line for at least half a decade which is more than enough time for me to realise I don't need them.
Regarding firewalls - for most of us we use wireless routers I assume? Why not just use whatever freeware or windows firewall in conjunction with your routers hardware firewall? Personally I use AVG + Windows FW and have the router firewall enabled.
I havn't noticed any problems but then again I don't go surfing for prawn :A0 -

I had issues with Zone Alarm as well, their vector graphic engine or something, cant remember and it proved to be a right pain. So I moved onto Sygate. I found that to be a much better software firewall.
But I have to admit, since getting my router sometime ago, on my PC I do what Bert does, just use Windows FW and the hardware firewall that comes built into the router. My antivirus is still AVG though, never encountered any problems whatsoever. On my child's PC, I use the security suite from Virgin Media only cos it has parental controls.
One problem I had with Norton which most of you will not get (or maybe understand
) is developing using ms office and trying to get to ODBC, Norton gives you lots of headaches as it wont display that applet!. There is a setting though, but it took a while to find this out!
I have not used the new Norton so I next time I will craft my words carefully and not give negative remarks on Norton 360. Only fair I guess.:hello:

Shopping Tips
Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.0
