I have just done this so thanks to op.
What is the date I will have to let them know if I want to cancel without paying anymore?

just sent this off to Setanta:

I have to say I, (along with many other disappointed Northern Ireland customers) am quite surprised that Setanta's advert in todays Northern Ireland issue of the Daily Mirror are unable to avail themselves of the opportunity to try Setanta for 2 months.

I have looked at a number of forums where this offer has been mentioned and I am surprised to see the number of Northern Ireland posters who are unable to subscribe to this offer ...their code "2001" shows as invalid.

I am inclined to believe that its something to do with how your system is set up and automatically disallows Northern Ireland customers to get this offer. On phoning customer services I was informed that this offer was only available online BUT they would take my details over the phone.

In view of the increasing number of complaints and problems between subscribers and Setanta (just read the main UK forums) I am wary of divulging my details....especially when it should be done via a secure online process.

I hope this is not another case that you advertise one thing and do the other...by the way, I was advised to "keep trying " the code....I suspect if its to do with the system setup I could try the code for the next 2 months and still not get the offer.

I will be posting a copy of this AND any reply on all the major UK forums.

I look forward to your response

got an auto reply saying I should have a response in 5 days....or I could ring a number...guess what....the numbers are to "signup"....lol

Torby, have you ever subscribed to Setanta before? if so this could be why you are having an issue with the code online - it is new customers only.

Also this offer is the Daily Mirrors, not Setanta. They are using Setanta to increase sales of newspapers. the same as many other reader offers. as this is the first time setanta and the mirror have done this they may have a glitch on the website which given chance they should be able to fix.

Threatening to disclose your letter to forums...hmm what would that achieve? Most people know that this type of forum do not give a true reflection of the level of service you get from a company. afterall i read setanta have over 2 million subscribers but only a handful have posted on here that is a hell of a lot of satisfied punters!

I hope you manage to get subscribed as the chelsea game promises to be a stunner ..and by the way...Rangers are winning 1 nil.

These are classic signs of a company that is about to implode.

The first subscriptions were about £20/month - twelve month contract and now they have migrated down through withdrawing 12month tie-ins to £9.99/month, then to £5 and now down to £1.......... This has got ITV Digital all over it and i bet Sky are sat there with a big cheesy smirk although over faces

Just because a person hasn't written about Setanta on MSE doesn't automatically mean they are a satisfied customer!

Likewise the opinions of a handful on a forum do not reflect the rest of the customers.

I only speak for myself. I think it is a great pack for football
  • I've just taken up this offer today to see if the LFC TV channel is worth having. If I want to cancel is it just 30 days notice in writing? Or do i need to call them up?

Got a bad feeling about this now having read some of these posts.

Taken from a post on HKUD.

I noticed in the t & c for this offer section 6 says this: Freeview™ and satellite customers - to cancel with effect from the end of the first 2 months, call Setanta between 26th December 2007 and 15th January 2008.
So then i presume we dont have to worry about making sure its 30 days notice.Just make sure you do it in the dates given providing you have either freeview or satellite.

So I take that to be the last day yuo can cancel is 15 jan before they start charging you?!
Have you got a job yet?

  • as good as the offer seems try cancelling the service you get massive problems. Im really shocked and surprise people are still doing business with them despite warnings from people on here.
scottishfreebiehunter you must be joking they are rude and treat the customer with nothing but distain should you cancel.Do you work for them or something lol.

No do not work for them:p,I have just never ever had a problem with them and neither has my dad,I did pay with my debit card previously though cancelled that and did not subscribe during football closed season, then saw they had the offer for £5.00 a month so subscribed again for new footie season.
I normally have a problem with call centre e.g Lloyds etc getting transferred to India etc :mad:maybe I am lucky though on the occasions I have dealt with them I have never had a problem and m T&C state I can cancel anytime withought a charge also.

Exactly great packages and they have now expanded to Australia so do not think for one minute they are going down the lavvy:D
I know loads of mates who have it and never heard anyone complain yet.
The cancellation make sure you do give plenty off notice I did it by phone and was okay for me though more than likely should have been better backing it up by letter, though as I say never had a problem.
