A possible solution for collected items is to send a eBay receipt to the buyer via Recorded Delivery?
• HI
trying to get a paypal do's and dont's guide going here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=604633. If you think it is a good idea please add your 2p.
Another poss sol. for high value or collect in person is BACS takes IMO about 3 days to clear so on collect in person would need to be cleared first.

Not sure how, paypal would take a receipt as Soolin said they could say that isn't me and paypal have no comparison sig. to agree or not (as would be the case!)

we accept paypal for collected items. buyer signs for it, and confirms it is in satisfactory condition.

we ask them for id to prove it is them.

you have to be very careful here with listing something which legally does not belong to you without permission from the owner. at the end of the day this is theft.
i suggest that you give your plumber written notice to collect their item within 28 days, and if not collected the item will then become yours to dispose of as you wish.

It wouldnt be enough if a claim were made. Paypal demand a Proof of delivery, a signed photo of the buyer collecting the item wouldnt even do.

I wonder how much OP paid for the plumbing job. My guess is it's more than to make it the plumber's worth collecting his equipment and has probably scammed the OP?!

...and exactly how much chance do you think you now have of getting another plumber to finish the job? It's amazing how many people use this forum and ebay

So when paypal ask you for your online proof of delivery using one of their only approved methods your receipt is going to help how exactly?

Please can we be clear how to keep ourselves safe on paypal. This myth that gets perpetuated that a written receipt or even a photograph of the person collecting item (like pullipreats says I have also seen that suggested elsewhere, daft as it may seem) will NOT work. These are the only methods to prove delivery that paypal accept:

help_q.gif What methods of online tracking are acceptable?

Question : Answer : help_a.gif The following options may be used:
• Parcelforce Worldwide
• Royal Mail - Special Delivery
• Royal Mail - Recorded Signed For
• Royal Mail - International Signed For
• Royal Mail - Airsure
• UPS
• FedEx
• Airborne Express
• DHL
Note: Royal Mail does not officially provide online tracking (with proof of delivery) for the International Signed For service. In some instances however, delivery details may be available online. If these details map to the buyer's postal address shown on the Transaction Details page, PayPal may consider it as sufficient proof of delivery. However, since availability of delivery details cannot be predicted, sellers may not be able to rely on this method for proof of delivery in order to be covered by PayPal's Seller Protection Policy.

This requirement could not be clearer, it does not allow for any other forms of proof. Without one of the approved methods of proof of delivery a chargeback claim will be lost, no argument, no appeal. I really don't know how many more people will get scammed before this message sinks in.

So how come everything ive bought from E-Bay was sent by normal post? what proof is this of delivery?
• Because 99.9% of deals go through perfectly, its only when something goes wrong that you realise you might not be covered.
