Anyone have any recommendations for removal companies in the South London/ Surrey area?
Moving from a 3 bed house, I've had some quotes but over £4000+
Looking for something more reasonably affordable but still a good service.

What level of service are you looking for? pack/unpack inclusive or just man&van type of deals? What is the distance?
I have found that fixed quotes are always over inflated as they err on the side of caution. Just go for hourly quote and will most likely end up cheaper. As an example large 2 bed flat packed with furniture and "stuff" (50+ boxes) took about 5-6h to move exuding transit time when we moved last year in Greenwich area. Cost was £70/h for 3 porters + large Luton van, we did all the packing/unpacking ourselves.0 -
The last couple of times I moved I used Denny's Removals. They have a South London & a Kent office. They were the cheapest out of the quotes I had & they did work like trojans each time. Even though there was quite a delay in getting the keys to the new home on one of the moves, they never billed for any extra time.

I've always done my own packing & found my own boxes, with the company just supplying the clothing rails for hanging items from the wardrobes to go into. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
We're in Essex and are doing a long distance move to Devon.
We had four different companies leaflet us when they saw the sold sign and I asked all four to quote for moving us from a four bed detached downsizing to a three bed semi. We wouldn't be taking all of our furniture and will be doing our own packing.
Three came to quote. One never turned up.
The first came and said he'd call me with a quote and never did.
The other two quoted £2300 and £2800. This is for a three day move.
Day 1 pack 99% and store overnight
Completion day 2 pack remaining and drive to Devon. Deliver beds.
Day 3 deliver remaining stuff and re-build bed.
I have another chap place coming to quote tomorrow.
When we originally moved from east London to Essex, we used Crispins and they were bally marvellous. I just wish we could use them again,"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
I've used Inline Removals around 4 or 5 times and more than happy to recommend. They have packed for me too for the last 3 or so moves. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
(pimento - Peglers are meant to be fantastic. Worth a quote if they do long distance.)2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Packing would be ideal but we've come to the realisation that is going to hike the price up too much. And the distance is 5 miles.0
