Buying a house without a mortgage

Hi Pavlov - Can you imagine DD's & SIL2B's faces if I turned up in a 'Sue Ryder' designer special with matching hat and shoes? :rotfl:
The biggest expense is the reception, as she has so many future in-laws that apparently all need full invites, so best part of 3k gone on that right away! I have allocated the quit smoking fund to photographer, flowers, invites and favours. Now I'm wishing I had been a heavier smoker! :rotfl:I read with interest that ICICI are offering 7.2% on their 12 month fixed savings account: If I stuck £1000 in there right now, the interest after tax could pay the piper! :rotfl: I think there could be change from 10k, but the hat is already being passed around, just in case father of the bride fails to contribute.
I'm refusing to give up on the house fund, so I'm squeezing every [STRIKE]ounce[/STRIKE] gram of value from every penny I spend to make it go further than ever before, and have just scraped up enough to hit 5% of Stage 3 of my plan. :j I have no intentions, whatsoever, of touching Stage 1 or Stage 2 funds. DD's wedding needs to be all new money, even if it ends up on a slow stooze! I'll whisper the next part, as you won't like it...
You know I said I had sold the Premium Bonds? I have started replacing them...:o I know! I can't help myself! It's the chance of that elusive win. :cool:I reserve the right not to spend.

Major Dilemmas! help!
I KNOW that I want to save to buy a house without a mortgage, but the property prices on fixy-ups are really beginning to look good and it would be horrible to let them all slip past and then find out there's nothing within price range by the time we save what we think is enough! Aaaarg... all this because I just found another interesting looking 'project'!I reserve the right not to spend.

I thought so too, seeing as you can't even buy a plot for that anywhere (barring the very northernmost parts and, even then, they may not be serviced). Maybe I'll be tempted to telephone tomorrow.I reserve the right not to spend.

Well... I was tempted! I've made the call and have an appointment to view next week. I know this could be nothing more than a small plot with a roof over the top but it's a start.
I shall now try to forget about it until the day...

Following on from the above - first viewing went well, second viewing appointment now arranged and I'm hard at work getting estimates 'just in case'.I reserve the right not to spend.
