Often wonder how stores make any/extra money on intrest free sales,we bought two sofa,s of DFS and would give no discount for cash, they cannot make any more on 4 years 0% interest.

They probably get a few quid kickback from the finance company who then bombards you with offers of loans at a crap rate which you ignore.

A few quid is better than nothing!

Try this link, Sofa's made in Wales:

There used to be other Welsh makers in the Crumlin area.

Dont rule out Ikea, as there is a lot of variation to choose from, in styles and coverings.

But building it is either fun, or a hassle

  • Bought our first Gplan sofas over 40 years ago. They were still good after 10 years but wife wanted a change so replaced them with more Gplan which we kept for 15 years. Then had leather from DFS for 11 years and my daughter still has them 3 years on although they were top of the range very soft leather. So now back to Gplan. We looked at the Gplan web site for ideas, very good range and fabrics to choose from. And then looked at on line retailers to get prices. DFS were lowest.
The only drawback with GPlan is that unlike some sofas the arms don't come off to make getting through doors easier but not a problem for us.

Ours are M&S, a few years old and still like new.
  • We have bought all our sofas from John Lewis, one in the extension and two in the lounge. One is now around 12 years old and is still as good as new and very comfortable. The other two are about 5 years old and like new too.

We have been pleasantly surprised by our DFS sofa and chairs. Now 7 years old and not had any issues with them. Like many, we bought them because of the convenience of the finance, although these days I would be more inclined to buy second hand higher quality and get a removal company/man with van to pick it up for me.
  • I got mine in John Lewis about 15 years ago - it's still comfortable and still looks good.
