What sofas are actually decent?

Every single big sofa shop has universally atrocious reviews. Where do you buy decent quality sofas these days?
We need two fairly large sofas for a large lounge, so one a good 2.5m (likely a four-seater) and one slightly smaller (three-seater).
Liked some in both Next and Sofology and ran a mile after Googling. Also like a couple of different Alexander & James ones stocked in a local independent furniture shop, but can’t find any reviews at all and want to know about longevity before handing over around £4k.

I have had 2 Chesterfield-style Tetrad sofas for about 20 years and they are still structurally sound. They have been re-covered as they were abused by 3 kids and various dogs and cats, but are a timeless design and very comfortable. Duresta seems to be another brand that has a good reputation."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I suppose its avoid anything with "nothing to pay now"...."interest free for 5-10 yrs"....."buy now pay later"...."sale must end sunday"0

Loaf are good. No connection with them, but they are comfy and well built: https://loaf.com/products/sofas?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImLL3zf7U5AIVxLTtCh2qcABKEAAYASAAEgJQRfD_BwEFor every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

I just recalled that years ago we had a pair of Tetrad sofas (Alicia) which lasted very well but after about ten years we sold them and replaced with something more structured (Multiyork - who of course no longer exist).
One of our current sofas is a £2000 John Lewis contemporary chesterfield type that we purchased second hand for £300. Very good quality, comfortable etc......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
I bought a really good DFS sofa 10 or so years ago so they’re not all bad. That said, it was the only one in the store that I didn’t think was awful. Really good quality. Still in use at a friend’s place looking much like new. I’ve got a good John Lewis one at the moment although it’s not wearing as well as the DFS.
Most places that sell sofas don’t make them and will probably get them from lots of different sources. To me that says that you’ll find some good and some bad at most places. I do think though that you’ve got to be prepared to pay for more than basic to get something good. Don’t buy a simple wooden canvas frame with foam cushions and expect it to last.0 -
Sofa.com. We visited their Chelsea showroom which was great - no pushy sales at all.
We bought an Isla three seater and love seat with fabric protection and have had no issues with the furniture - excellent quality. Minor stains have come out thanks to the treatment to the material and the stain remover Guardsman send you. We had a larger stain that Guardsman could not remove so we received a new cushion cover and the fabric match was a pretty much spot on (you can get batch variations).0 -
Often wonder how stores make any/extra money on intrest free sales,we bought two sofa,s of DFS and would give no discount for cash, they cannot make any more on 4 years 0% interest.0

I've had Multiyork for quite some years now & were craftmen made & built to last. Sadly the company went into administration a short while back. However I did hear that DFS were going to take them over as part of a more luxury offering, so that could be worth looking into.
Other than that names such as Duresta as already mentioned are certainly worth a look. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
