I am in same position although my ins does not cover airline failure. I think the chargeback scheme is last resort though so try your ins first as it covers airline failure. Check for limits though. Good luck. Oh, and Lloyds are definitely most unhelpful. There is a template letter on here for chargeback claims.0

It is in the MSE article about Thomas Cook, in the section about chargeback scheme and section 75 claims.

I got caught up in the Lowcost Holiday collapse a few years ago. I got my money back through Chargeback on my Natwest account with no problems at all. I always use my credit card now(I had 3 TC flights booked on it). My brother in law had a flight booked with TC for May paid on a Halifax debit card. Anybody had any experience in applying for Chargeback from Halifax?

What happens if someone has booked a flight for you as a gift? Can they still get money back under section 75?
I'm going bog eyed here looking for info"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

What I don't understand is why people were still booking with TC until as late as last weekend.
A cursory Google search would have revealed the deep financial trouble the company was in with this week being a crunch point in its future.
It's not as though this news was a bolt out of the blue.
Even several months ago alarm bells should have rung for anyone doing due diligence.0 -
I looked online before booking mine. Last i heard was they were being bought out. So i assumed everything was fine with them0

I know someone who booked a holiday last week, flew out on sunday, he isnt bothered, if they stayed solvent he would get back, if they went belly up he would get back so it made no difference to him.
admittedly, I dont think I would have booked anything to far the future
