I contacted my Hotel and they confirmed that the booking was cancelled this morning and not paid.
Gritting my teeth I have now paid another $1200 for the same room.
Fingers crossed Mastercard will refund - lodged dispute yesterday.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Got an email from the hotel to say our reservation was cancelled by the agent yesterday morning.
Mrs sent this to Lloyds as well at the confirmation email yesterday. The booking number matched the reference on the transaction which made it easier.
Woke up this morning to find what we paid is now back on the credit card and we can book again with someone else even if it is slightly more. Im 99% sure this was done on a chargeback even though the price we paid was around £250 mark.So slight update
We booked our hotel in Thailand back in July for November. Mrs booked on her CC with Lloyds.
Hotel just say confirmation, kept asking us to go to travel agent and they couldn't understand it doesn't exist anymore. won't say if they have money or not.
Lloyds have started Section 75 (10-15 working days) and today they have started a chargeback (7-10 working days)
They have been really good and say we don't have to contact anyone, even the hotel. Just hope they don't booked up in the next week or 2 as all our transfers are from there!0 -

Wow I'm impressed by how fast Lloyds seems to be working. I paid it through Virgin Credit Card. Rang them straight away on Saturday morning and I still haven't even received the paperwork.
Was this a Lloyds credit card or was the transaction paid through Lloyds as I'm wondering whether to contact Barclays now.0 -

We arrived in Tossa de Mar at midnight last night to check into our hotel(booked a few weeks ago and pre paid with Amoma)
No record of our booking but the night porter put us in a room and told us to come to reception in morning to sort out.
Neither Hotel or us had had any notification of Amoma's failure but they had found the news online. We had to pay for room again, at the hotels rack rate so a bit more that what we'd already paid, thankfully our annual Virgin Money travel insurance will cover all extra costs incurred by us for the stay(just the hotel in our case) so apart from the confusion etc we aren't losing anything.
I'd suggest travel insurance in first instance to cover any losses from this.
I've used Amoma a lot over the years and often found them to be the cheapest by far so sad to see them fail in a way.
All the best for everyone with upcoming bookings.0 -

Did you get in touch with Virgin travel insurance? I have an annual travel insurance with Puffin but they won't cover a travel agent going bust and won't pay me back the money I have lost as I rang them this morning.
Did you get your initial payment to Amoma back already?0 -

Was a Lloyds Credit Card that was used to pay. Mrs rang the disputes team a few times and with all the evidence said 3-5 days but even I'm surprised at how quick it was.0 -
Today i got two bad news.. First from HOTEL --->With reference to your enquiry your bookings have been cancelled by the agent who has passed on your booking to us. We never get paid before clients arrival as we invoice the agent on departure
So im despaired... it seems i lost 432 euro..0 -
Today i got two bad news.. First from HOTEL ---> ., Second from bank - that they will not refund it for me, because my credit cards travel insurance doesnt support that situation like bankrupt... Of course bad to me, i payed for hotel not by credit card, but with debit card..
So im despaired... it seems i lost 432 euro..Evolution, not revolution0 -
Yes, I called Virgin travel insurance who confirmed we are covered with no excess, I just need to send them all receipts of extra costs incurred.
So sorry to people who's insurers are refusing claims, hopefully other routes will work.0
