LCWRA award backdated

Just a piece of advice. I received backdated pay today from 1st sick note that I handed in which was 17th June..
So it is possible without 3 months wait..

Depends on individual case. If you previously had ESA limited capability to work right up to start date of UC claim, then you don't serve the 3 monthly assessment period waiting period, before you receive the LCWRA rate.

If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • No I never had any esa or nothing before.. All I got was my personal allowance of 317..thats it..
  • My assessment was done last week and decisions was put on my journal within 10 min

In that case you should not have been paid LCWRA rate backdated to 17th June., unless an exemption applies.

If a mistake has been made, Be aware that UC can recover any overpayment paid in error. So you may receive a letter at some point in your journal, advising that an overpayment has occurred and the amount has been referred to Debt Management. There will then be deductions on future statements.

Sorry to ask, but are you suffering from a life threatening condition at the moment ?

If so, it is possible that you qualify for an exemption from the 3 month waiting period.

  • Yes mate severe depression, public anxiety, tried to kill my self 3 times.. Etc etc all recently in last few month..
  • There is a a letter in my journal as soon as they transfered money saying they have decided to pay me.. Then I called uc to double check.. They said all the decisions are made and nothing wrong with it

So you just accept the decision that has been added to your journal.

I just wanted to make the point that every persons case will be different and most people won't receive the LCWRA rate for the first 3 assessment periods.

Well hopefully you can put the money towards finding a place to rent. You should visit the local councils housing department and see whether you can be referred for urgent housing.

The Housing charify Shelter may also be able to help you.
