  • By the way if they requested twice the amount, should I have just paid up? Can’t believe you are offering this advice. I was hoping for something a bit more thoughtful.

I look forward to the thread in 3 months time asking for advice on what to do next because they’ve issued papers going for a CCJ.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • I think it will be longer than 3 months for a CCJ. Goes to show you don’t know what you’re talking about.
  • One thing the CMCs are actually good at is extracting their fees. that's how they make a "living", it's all they live for!

Good luck with your fight, you'll need it . .
  • I have asked several questions those who stated I should just pay up. No reply with says a lot. Moneysavingexpert used to be such a good place to get impartial advice.

brettca didn't say it takes 3 months to get a CCJ. Goes to show you don't read what's put in front of you!
  • Clearly states I should receive an itemised bill of charges.

  • This thread is going nowhere.

The OP refuses to say whether he/she signed a Letter Of Authority and only hears what he wants to hear.

RIP this particular section of the forum.

If you signed a letter of authority for them to pursue a complaint on your behalf, it doesn't matter that you decided to do it yourself, they wouldn't have found out about it unless the bank had contacted them to tell them you were successful. They contacted them because they had a signed letter of authority.
If you do not pay, they WILL take you to court. If you believe that you are not responsible for this, then you can complain to them. They have eight weeks to respond. If they don't respond within eight weeks you can forward your complaint to the FOS.
However, if you did employ them, if you did sign a letter of authority, they are completely entitled to charge you whether you did the work or them and you do not have a leg to stand on.
