  • Trouble is i gave a couple of verbals; called him a busybody and mr.big. I'm ashamed now in retrospect; i'll probably go down for this!
    :rotfl:

As above, take it as a reminder to not be so daft/lazy next time. You'd be the first to complain if you'd parked properly then on your way out, you collided with someone because some numpty had parked on the zig-zags obscuring your view.

If a copper had seen you, you'd be sure of getting the points and fine.

This way you've probably got a timely warning. If you're lucky.

You really think the police would have bothered with a parking offence?

    Hi,
last week ona wet morning i was photographed parked outside a local shop on white zigzag lines. I was 30 seconds in the shop to buy a newspaper. The person said she was reporting me to the police. I was livid as there were no pedestrians at all and the school run had finished 2 hrs previously. Added to that i was as far away as possible from the pedestrian crossing next to the last available correctly parked vehicle. Later that day others were also photographed guilty of the same parking infringement.
I gather if the penalty charge goes through it incurs a £60 fine plus 3 points on the licence. Will it also increase next years insurance premium?

    Its an absolute offence.
They are there to protect pedestrians.
    Pure selfishness and entitlement.

    Edit: I'll admit,it infuriates me.
I mean your paper is the important thing?
Perhaps the car driver here was getting an important paper too?

I don't know where you were caught parking where you shouldn't, but at least one police force is getting the public to help out. https://operationsnap.devon-cornwall.police.uk/

Collyflower1 - keep your fingers crossed that the photo doesn't end up on a Community Facebook site.

    Hmm...
Perhaps best to make clear that the driver parking on zig-zags wasn't the one involved in the collision and convicted for death-by-careless, eh?

At least, I assume you mean the parked red car, not the Sainsbury's wagon... The driver didn't notice the lights change, pulled off when the road was clear, and killed the toddler seen heading to the crossing at the end of the CCTV... The inconsiderate parking is a very small part of the chain of events.

Yes. Parking within the controlled area of a pedestrian crossing is a criminal offence, which carries points, not a parking infringement.

It isn't stopping in the controlled area is though.
  • Blimey, these responses are a real eye-opener. Maybe its been a good experience as it will wake me up and make me more aware of my own actions and responsibilities as a driver in future.

I really wouldnt be able to bear the shame of having my face shown on the local facebook page. I think he did actually photograph me when i wound the window down. Ive never been in trouble before , i thought i was a goody goody.....maybe not! Maybe i need anger management therapy?
