Tesco’s ‘Clubcard Prices’ discount promo is back – but how do the deals stack up? - MSE News

I've been to Tesco a couple of time recently and I have bought items that were 'Clubcard specials'.
Whilst any saving is welcome, they didn't seem that special to me. It just felt like the normal special offers you would expect to see in Tesco, but re-branded as Clubcard specials. E.g. the person above mentioned coffee - there always used to be a discount on one brand or another of coffee. Now the same discount is only available if you use a Clubcard. They're not giving us anything extra.1 -
This is what is about. A friend was in front of a customer who couldn’t be bothered finding her CC. She spent about £45. If scanned CC, she would have saved £7. As one of the items customer and friend had were both the same (washing liquid)TheBanker said:I've been to Tesco a couple of time recently and I have bought items that were 'Clubcard specials'.

A good ploy for Tesco to get more money from customers who aren’t CC holders shopping or can’t be bothered to scan cards.
Whereas the other supermarkets are offering the same prices to everyone0 -
But not everyone shops at those other supermarketsod244051 said:

I was going to say it's a non event but if you need something, then they do save you a few quid. We shop ahead ie plan ahead and buy stuff before we need it especially if its at a decent price so it helps
We also online iclands and Birds Eye chicken stakes/sizzlers at 1-50 for two usally 3 quid at tescos, morriosns and asda, we just online shop with all of them since last March. - Tesco is the best click and collect IMO0 -
We went to Tesco yesterday, the first time in ages. The club card specials were interesting. The 180g Philadelphia was on for £1. This is a brilliant price, it’s normally nearer £2.TheBanker said:I've been to Tesco a couple of time recently and I have bought items that were 'Clubcard specials'.

However a quick search later revealed that both Sainsbury’s and Asda have a special offer of £1 reduced from £2.
Coincidence?
Either way I can stock up for making cheesecake for when our sheltered housing afternoon tea/coffee mornings are allowed again.
I may check up on Tesco’s other “bargains”.2 -
It's fairly common for all the supermarkets to have the same offers, Mondelez would probably be funding the offer so all the supermarkets have the Philadelphia reduced. The only difference is Tesco now require you to have a clubcard to get their offers.Murphybear said:

Don't get fooled into thinking that Tesco clubcard pricing is Tesco being generous and giving you great pricing. It is just the same promo pricing that they have always had (and funded by the manufacturers), just that now you have to faff about with a clubcard to get the discounts. Generally manufacturers will give their promo pricing to all the large supermarkets at the same time, so yes you will see the same or similar price cuts across all the supermarkets.Murphybear said:

Seen customers in Tesco that can’t be bothered getting their CC out to scan and wasted £10-150
-
Also seen customers who left their receipts in their trolley and I got the points!
Yeo Valley yoghurt was on the same price as Tesco's own yesterday, I wouldn't usually buy it but won't say no to free Yeokens as I'm saving them up for when the monthly raffle prize is something I want!0
