Bought a tv from John Lewis in 2016, its out of manufacturers warranty but still within the 5 years. Below are the problems arising
* TV picture becomes pixelated, you cant watch it and then returns to normal after a short space of time, my reception is via an aerial.
* The TV just switches itself off for no apparent reason.
* At times i cant change to any channels.
* On trying to get teletext up, a message appears within a green rectangle box saying "no teletext", i re-tune the TV and teletext becomes available again but then stops.
* The sound on the TV just switches itself off
* When trying to get BBC Iplayer or ITV hub etc. the TV wont connect, i have fast fibre broadband and broadband speeds are on average 72.92 Mb/s download and 19.04 Mb/s upload so its not that i don't have enough.
*The red colour is not a true colour red
These are only recent for some reason, so fair dues to the store they have got back in touch with me and they said that "it seems the tv is faulty", asked for my current contact details as they would arrange for the tv to to be collected adding the following
"Please be aware, the repair centre does not carry out in-home repairs so they will need to take the set away. For repairs we do have to allow a 28 working day time-frame for the service centre to complete the repair. This is to allow time for the delivery of the required parts and to ensure that the fault has been rectified before returning the set to you."
After my long winded outlay of whats happening here is my question,
does anyone have experience with this type of thing and know if this part of the process is normal and would you expect or would you know if they will give me a demo TV to cover in the meantime?

What is this , still within the five years ??
CR or warranty 28 days is normal .
Demo TV no you would have to ask that question .0 -
Give us the make and model,we can then see if there any problems with this model.
I thought teletext service was no longer available, are you also connected to the wifi on the tv.0 -
Have you checked the signal level? It could be that the aerial has become loose or has been damaged, might need a new aerial - this would explain the pixellation.
As for turning itself off, some TVs go off on their own after a set time if you do not change the station etc. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

OP, re TV turning itself off. Worth checking you haven't got it on sleep timer. Also, check the auto time off setting - think mines on 6 hours which is usually more than enough, but can be annoying when watching cricket.
Re unable to change channels - sometimes caused by TV updating software, but might be the batteries in your remote?
My LG TV has wifi option, but I now connect it up via a cable as had issues with wifi previously.0 -
Thanks to everyone who has contacted me so far, i will attempt to answer your questionsGive us the make and model,we can then see if there any problems with this model.

Hisense 55M7000, there is a TXT button on control which can be used on BBC channels, you then put in 101 and you can view news stories, yes connected to wifi on TV, speeds are on average 72.92 Mb/s download and 19.04 Mb/s upload

Yes checked signal levels which are good and aerial connection is good as well, as far as i am aware there is no timer set on TV
Odd. Is the remote pointing at the TV? If yes it could be a dogdy remote. Could be a dodgy TV.
* At times i cant change to any channels.
I had problems with the old remote and changed it in March this year
How is the TV connected to the internet? Could be issues with your networking.
TV is connected via wifi

No timer set as far as i know, had a look and cant see anything being set, there have been no new updates for a while.
I am looking tosee if i can get an ethernet connection straight into the TV0 -
I would start by a factory reset of the TV .
Disconnect check and fit all cables .0 -
There has been no teletext in the UK for years now
Teletext most certainly does exist on both BBC1 and BBC2. It is not the same as it was quite some years ago so if it will make people happier call it an on screen information service. I also access it by using the TXT button on my LG TV.0
