  • Hi,
I signed up to the offer from the link directly from the MSE website rather than first going to Money.co.uk. Does anyone know if this will still be valid ?

I am so disappointed with how they've made this. I applied for the account online on August 13th when the deal went live because that's when I got an email about it. After I completed my application I got a 'we need some time to process your application' screen. Two days later I got a text message that they need some more time still. On September 1st the account was actually opened, so I got a welcome e-mail. The offer to switch expired on September 2nd. On September 4th I received my bank account details, so this was the earliest point I could've started the switch. So actually there was absolutely no chance of qualifying for this offer and now I have an account I don't want.

    Close the account then?

Delays in applications can't be helped

I would but I now have my current account being switched to it. So they delayed the switch date which I had initially selected to be before 2nd September. It is a huge hassle especially as getting access to the account requires visiting the branch - I can't see my online banking or anything without going there in person. I am beyond upset about this as would not have switched had it not been for the offer and then THEY changed my switched date so I wouldn't qualify for it. I am confused as to how they are allowed to do this.

Edited to add: I have spoken with them on the phone and online trying to cancel this but by don't let me cancel the switch. They also say I can't close or access the account without visiting in branch. I've been with 4 different banks in the UK, this being my 5th one, and I've never had this poor service. I feel I consented to different T's&C's, not these ones.
  • Hello everyone,

I have a similar issue - I applied online through money.co.uk to open the account and even added the switching account details on the 22nd of Augst - Next day I got a text they need me to bring a proof of address to open the account - I went to the branch a couple of days later and the person who helped me told me it would be better if I just open the account in branch as I wouldn't have to wait - When I asked about the bonus, they said I still have time as long as I opened the account before the 2nd of September.

Just contacted their online customer service and been told that I had to apply for the SWITCHING (not only the account) before the 2nd of September online and opening the account in-branch makes me no eligible anymore.

I'm really disappointed because I was completely misinformed in-branch. - From your experience, do you think it's worth to pursue them? Do you think they can honor the bonus?

    Yes.

The T's and C's make no mention of having to request the switch online, only that you have to start the switch within 30 days of account opening. Link below to the T's and C's I saved during my application, hope it works.

I'm about to open a complaint with HSBC as my switch was supposed to happen last Friday but didn't happen

  • I recommend complaining to them if you have not already done so. I had someone call me back after I complained and they gave me £35 compensation for the inconvenience and reassured me that I should still be getting the switch money as it was their fault there was a delay. I haven't received it yet though.

Edit: The £35 compensation may have actually been because they changed the switch date so that after THEY changed it, I had no chance of cancelling it between hearing from them and the account switching. I was trying to cancel. THey first offered £25 and I said it was too little. I think £35 would have been too little too but if I receive the switch bonus then it's fine. It's appalling service that I have gotten and I've spent hours with them on the phone and in branch, so I think I will switch to something else in the next few months.
  • Why is £25 or £35 of free compo "too little"?

You're still getting the £175 for switching - be grateful they even offered the extra.

    Honestly, some people...
  • I did this offer as well. I took screenshots of the offer page so can send that if you need OP.

Can anyone answer this though. What action do I need to take to transfer my account over? I followed the offer link, filled in all info, just before the deadline. HSBC have opened the account and everything now. But I've seen nothing about my funds, direct debits etc switching over.

Did you initiate the switch process?
