I'd agree with Johnb47, but the important thing is not to let too big a credit balance build up, and to keep your own billing and usage records in case you lose online access when they go under.
Personally I had no problems over a year with Eversmart: the billing was done promptly every month, meter reads accepted and properly applied, and they didn't send me endless marketing emails promising 'love and power'...
I switched because 'Welcome Home' was about to expire and YE had a decent alternative in 'Green Gazelle' (who thinks up these names?).No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Need some advice on how to play this one.
My account's well in credit and my direct debit is due out on Monday. Do I cancel the DD? Will that impact the new supplier's ability to refund me my credit balance? Will be looking to transfer to a new supplier anyway.0 -
May I suggest that Eversmart customers log on and download all your history before the website shuts down. It's also a good idea to read and photograph your meters so you are in a good position to help yourself when the account is transferred to another supplier.
Those who put a bit of effort in at this stage will have significantly less hassle than those who just hope it will all come out in the wash.
I bet there are still some IRESA customers who are still arguing about their accounts and wish they'd done a bit more when IRESA went bust.
We've just transferred away to Symbio and are a few quid in credit with Eversmart but as I control our account pretty closely it's not a kings ransom if we have to wait some time to recover it. We'd already closed our DD.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I must be setting some sort of record - this is the third time, I think, that my energy supplier has gone bust!
Ho hum.
Join the club! GB Energy, Iresa and now Eversmart.
I suspect that we are not alone!
I'm halfway through a switch to Symbio (due to complete 18th September), but I suspect that will now fail.0 -
I can't match that. Just Iresa and Eversmart for me. Funnily enough I had no trouble with either of them. My switch is on September 12th to Outfox the Market so there's a good chance I'll be going through it all again next year.0

I'm the same, GB, IRESA, Eversmart and now I've jumped to Symbio (my switch happened on 2nd Sept so my DD with Eversmart has been cancelled and I'm just a few quid in credit)
It's a bit of a pain dealing with failed suppliers but I've saved literally hundreds (if not thousands) of £££s by going with a cheapie so I'm prepared to put up with the aggro
It helps if you keep the account up to date with readings and checking bills, saving PDF copies of them all (I've still got all my bills from GB, IRESA and Eversmart - just in case) and ensure that you don't get too far in either credit or debitNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Well, I owe Eversmart about £200. DD for £65 due to come out on 8th September.
I suppose if they've gone broke then maybe they can't block the switch to Symbio (hopefully!)0 -

I did that just before the news broke. I left a few months ago but in case the administrators try coming after me for a non existent debt I have the evidence to show account paid up to date.
Also will stay with Symbio because I am only ever a few pounds in credit. However will monitor them closely from now.0 -

If you cancel the DD then the SOLR will have to refund you manually (i.e.by cheque). No free lunch, and no free laptop0
