The space you parked in had a trolley park on its left. The car on your right was close to the line. You parked in the middle of the bay

    No you’ve read it wrong.
The other vehicle was over to the right due to the trolley park on their left.

But as far as I can tell no evidence who or how damage was done beyond speculation.
  • Car parks are a car's worst enemy, this stuff happens all the time, just get it fixed and move on.

If you want your car to remain dent free, don't ever go near a car park. Especially Tescos who have some of the narrowest spaces out there, and doubly especially next to a white van.

    Lol, this just gets better.

Why on earth didn’t you park as far left as possible.

I’m calling it! Great effort but this is a wind up.

it's time to get your eyesight checked, and read again what I wrote.
if you have nothing usefull to say or anything else to do,don't comment.

the evidence will be on Tesco parking CCTV,both cars were very close to supermarket building were cameras are located and there is a very good chance it has been recorded.

I have the dash cam video of me parking next to the van with it's number plate company branding etc visible and photoes taken at the scene afterwards showing the damage and location.

I haven't contacted police / insurance yet (they can obtain the CCTV from Tesco not me personally)
I wanted to know, the likelihood of my own insurance policy being negatively effected before I proceed.

becuase everyone says insurance premiumwillgohigher even in no fault cases and I don't want that to happen for a £300 repair bill.
I was not at fault and the CCTV footage are highly likely to show van driver deliberately hitting my car.

some people here don't know that even if I had completely blocked the vans door(which I didn't) they had no right to hit and damage my car like that and that's a criminal offence.

if a car parks in your driveway are you allowed to pick a hammer and smash their car window?

    I stand corrected.

Now you keep beating the drum regarding your dashcam but that isn’t evidence. Yes it shows the van next to you when you arrived but apart from that there is zero evidence to suggest the van caused the damage.
Someone could have caused the dents returning a trolley to the trolley park 1 space away from you. Another car could have caused the damage whilst trying to park and driven off.

What your claiming is vandalism and not a parking incident. You are well within your rights to request cctv footage of your car at that time so you can satisfy yourself rather than guess which is what you are currently doing.

    Dont leave it too long.
CCTV may be deleted after a certain time period.

It would dealt with as such if you were to report it to the police, but since you haven't then officially no crime has happened whatsoever.

Don't I know it! My trusty (has sailed through it's last three MOT's) 14 year old Astra now has four dings along the drivers side from bumps when parked in supermarkets car parks...I was annoyed when the first one happened but very much less so with the subsequent ones...she wears the scars well and none of the dings will contribute as to when she eventually passes to the 'other side':D

Did you take a leaf out of the OP's book and request the supermarkets CCTV and blame deliberate damage by anyone parked to the side of you, even if that wasn't provable?

Did you also park in a position which could have made it highly difficult for the other car's driver to get back in their car and thus claim criminal damage, even if you brought it on yourself?

In not, you need to get on the OP's train.

Actually, DON'T you sound far more reasonable! :D

so in this sitution, the van driver could open their door (maybe not full, wide open but they could open it and enter) remember they are the one who parked awkwardly very close to my bay in first place.

You get more deluded with each reply.

My bay? Did you claim it on the way to the car park?

I’m presuming the van owner parked next to the trolley bay with either an empty space on their other side or another vehicle parked far enough away.

They come back to find a small car wedged in next to their van door making it difficult to get in. They’re probably looking at the big gap that you left on the other side.

Not hard to see how you could have provoked him/her is it?

You don’t appear to have evidence or want to declare the event to your insurance so that’s the thread over then, eh?
