Anyone got a credit card with a CCJ

Hi folks,

As the title suggest, has anyone got this?

I have finally sorted my finances out and for the past 12 months at least all my payments on time for various accounts. I have about 20 accounts, about 10 basic bank accounts, 5 mobile contracts, 3 credit builder loans, broadband and a catelouge account.

All have been paid on time

The only thing missing is a credit card, i had loads in my younger days but lost them due to debt issues. I want to rebuild. I have 6 CCJS, satisfied, one in dispute. 3 will drop off in 2 years, one in 3 years and about a year ago in dispute. Trying to get them removed, not sure if i will have any luck with that.

What are my chances? Anyone in similar situation?

  • Some of the sub-prime cards (NewDay) stipulate they accept new customers as long as you haven’t received a County Court Judgement (CCJ) in the past 12 months :)

I had a look at some of these companies but am a bit scared. A few of them are part of vanquis, capital one etc and ive had credit cards in the past with the main companies and dont have a good history. SO i am not sure if i wll get accepted or not

Are there any brand new companies that are not part of these big companies. I belive AQUA are standalone. I saw a tesco credit card for poor credit and an amazon, asada one aswell. The thing is they are not heavily advertised so i am not sure if i will get selected for them. They do say its designed for poor credit
  • I've got a CCJ, had it for about 4.5 years now.

Got a sub-prime credit card last year, got a CC with my own bank this year; several credit limit increases, about 24% Apr with the sub-prime CC, under 10% Apr with my own bank and a reasonable credit limit.

Both cards together amount to about half my yearly wage and that's working part-time, but not on NMW.

Yeah, it can be done. I'm sat here building up a new credit history while waiting for the old one to go away.

  • Forgot to say, my CCJ was for over £4k and at the time of taking out both CC's it wasn't satisfied.

Use the eligibility checker and see if the newday / marbles one pops up for you.

  • I have just checked that Aqua, Fluid and Opus (all NewDay) clearly state they will accept you as long as you...

So around 3.5 years after your CCJ you got a cc. Why did you wait for 3.5 years? did you get rejected earlier? Is the CCJ paid and when did you pay it off?

Did the bank offer you one or did you apply? I have various bank accounts but most of them are not in use so i am afraid of applying through them as they will see it. Did you have regular income and outgoing with your bank for them to give you a credit card?

Whenever i do that especially on my credit files my eligibilty is 0%. I cant understand it, apart from my CCJs i have a perfect credit report in the past 12 months even longer. A few missed payments years ago.

I heard or read that Amazon credit card is NEW DAY aswell. Infact, alot of the store credit cards are new day.

Does that mean i can only get accepted by one of the brands?

I thought AQUA were standalone. So fluid, opus and AQUA all operate under the NEW DAY brand?
  • Try an eligibility checker on the lenders website directly rather than one from a comparison site.
