But if the CEO did not reply, then email them back and ask why he is not concerned about his customers enough to at least ensure a Manager handles the complaint sent to him. Customer Services can't randomly reply and shut you up - be persistent.

Hi, he passed it on to someone in their department who wanted my permission, which I gave, to forward my complaint to the landowner, so not all is lost just yet.
  • Apologies for hijacking this thread but I would greatly appreciate some advice about a parking charge I have received from MET Parking Services, is as the registered keeper of my vehicle.

The driver parked in the Gatwick MacDonalds, bought a coffee, had his receipt validated and proceeded to the exit. Unfortunately he dropped the receipt somewhere between the exit barrier and the restaurant and when he looked for it he must have picked up someone else's discarded receipt which he used to exit the car park, additionally pressing the button at the exit gates after inserting his ticket. He was not aware that he had the incorrect receipt and that if he pressed the button he would automatically be fined.

We have sent an appeal to MET which has been rejected.

He was a genuine customer and genuinely used a ticket to exit the restaurant. We have a copy of the restaurant receipt.

The incident took place on 7th July 2019 and we received the postal NTK on 26th July 2019 (issue date 23rd July 2019).

We argued that the NTK didn't comply with Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 because it was not delivered within 14 days, and that the driver was a genuine customer who had validated his ticket and used it to exit the barriers.

We have received a POPLA code on the MET appeal refusal.

How can we fight this? Can we win if we appeal to POPLA?
All the POPLA appeal threads are so confusing I have no idea where to start and how to draft it?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Thank you

    Apologies for hijacking this thread
So why are you doing so, especially when you already have your own MET parking thread?

  • Wow, that's a bit harsh, and its because I didn't get any replies to my thread. I was under the impression that this was a safe and friendly forum.

What was 'harsh' about that? How are you going to deal with a predatory PPC with all its lies and accusations being thrown your way if you think the above simple question to you is 'harsh'?

Yesterday there were just short of 80 different cases being dealt with by a very small number of volunteers (and you won't need the fingers of both your hands to count them!). The pace can be frantic at times and threads can swiftly slide down the forum into obscurity unless the OP (you) brings them back to the top of the forum with a gentle request to see if anyone is available to advise.

If you don't get any replies to your thread it may mean that no one has an answer, but more often than not the forum is, at the time, simply overwhelmed. But posting on someone else's thread to gain attention goes against forum rules, won't get you any advice and is rather discourteous to the thread originator.

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #3 about constructing a POPLA appeal? Have you undertaken a forum search on keywords 'MET POPLA' yet? Many of your answers lie there.

One case. One thread. That's the rule or it becomes too confusing.
  • Not heard a thing, so I think it looks like the advice here worked! Thanks very much to those who helped me out, it was very much appreciated.

Hopefully, but chickens can only be really counted in the year 2025, 6 years after the parking event, which is the time available to pursue any alleged debt through the court system.

    Stay alert!
