But the law is the law and unless I'm mistaken, that the cameras have to be visible from a distance at 40mph.
You are mistaken - there is no law requiring cameras to be visible.
If you don't want to do a course, you should be offered a fixed penalty (£100 and three points), unless you already have nine points or more.0 -
I think you are mistaken. Sounds like pub talk to me.woolythoughts wrote: »No, its not a valid defence.

I#d rather spend my weekend at home with my family than several hundred miles away in a class room. For the sake of £100 quid and 3 points.
Unless the offence was committed in Scotland (when you won't be offered a course at all) or in Dorset, you can do the course anywhere in England & Wales (except Dorset). If you don't fancy the course you will be offered Fixed Penalty, You have no need to worry about declaring your income. There is no need to allow this matter to get to court. If you do it will cost you at least twice the fixed penalty and, depending on your income, probably a lot more than that.
Simply name yourself as the driver within the 28 days allowed (if you have not already done so). If you want to take the course make sure you book it and take part in the time allowed. If yo want to pay a fixed penalty simply make your payment and send of your licence as per the instructions.0 -
Claiming you couldn't possibly know what the limit was, because the repeater signs were "blown down" a few weeks ago, seems a tad disingenuous in that case, doesn't it...?woolythoughts wrote: »...and I drive that road every day!
BTW, assuming [strike]no[/strike] streetlights, lack of repeaters means 30mph. You'll be reminded of that on a course.0 -
Are you sure?BTW, assuming no streetlights, lack of repeaters means 30mph. You'll be reminded of that on a course.0 -
Well, it wasn't a motorway - so, yes.
But do go on...0 -
But you don't need to go to court. Surely 50 in a 40 would be an FPN so it would cost you £100 & 3 points0

Gah! I did, of course, mean "assuming streetlights"
