Unable to clear Clarity Card overseas ATM transaction before it shows on statement

On clarity you just wait for the cash withdrawal to show on the online statement rather than the pending area. As soon as it shows transfer funds from your bank account using faster payments and you get same day value. Interest is minimal - few pence - so I always pay over the transaction amount to cover interest. Just be aware that you must have settled the most recent statement balance first otherwise the payment will count towards that rather than clearing the cash withdrawal.0

Withdraw cash on clarity from atm. Then go to your banking app (or desktop.internet) and send a faster payment to clarity. That is what I have been doing for years - never paid any interest.0
-
You now can’t pay through the App until your transaction appears on your statement.0

All you have to do to avoid interest is make a faster payment via online banking as soon as the transaction is reflected in your available balance not when it is showing on your statement.
There are times when the final amount charged eventually does vary slightly from the available balance so it's not 100% foolproof
I did this for 4 years when living overseas!0 -

From the message above, it seems that a few people are now having problem with advance payments via mobile apps before the transactions appears in the accounts. Previously they could.
But it seems no one has confirmed whether it is also the case when using online banking. I do not use my clarity card to withdraw cash nowadays, so will not have the chance to test it.
But other people might want to test it to see whether this problem appear with faster payment via online banking.0 -
I can't see any way they could stop a faster payment through online banking. They could send a payment back, but there has been no indication they would be likely to. I was loathe to do it while in France, as my Clarity card number was changed about 3 months ago and I only had a payee set up as the old number. I eventually used it and it went through ok.
Using the app is quite straightforward, it takes you to a secure page where my debit card number is already saved. They seem determined to make that more difficult however.0 -
They won't send it back - just log on to your current account e.g. Barclays Nationwide or whatever and send a faster payment to your Clarity Card
It will get their within a couple of hours and certainly before the pending transaction has had time to get to your statement0 -
I can confirm that I have paid using faster payment last week before my ATM transaction showed on my statement.0

Thanks to everyone on this thread.
I've had Santander (Abbey) Zero/Clarity for over 10 years now. I've been paying 2 or 3 days after withdrawing usually by laptop and faster payments. Over that time I've averaged one ATM withdrawal a week. Typically my monthly statements show 10p interest.
Over 10 years that means I've wasted around a total of £12 on my 500 withdrawals. The greedy bankers have been quietly taking this money without telling me about apps for checking balances etc. I have been mis-sold.
Can anyone advise me how to get my £12 back (plus interest, of course)??
Martin, can you help?
Is it legal?0 -
