Did you only manage to make payment whe the transaction is shown on your accounts?

The transactions were showing as recent in the app. They had moved on from 'pending.' However the faster payment would have gone through regardless.

As it has been well pointed out earlier, for cash withdrawals cards like Starling's are much better suited.
The reason why I personally would abstain from using a credit card to do so is that such a transaction shows as cash advance in the credit profile. That's something I personally try to avoid.
Ermmm there's nothing wrong with credit card cash witthdrawals provided you pay them off quickly. Been doing this for years without any adverse affect on my credit report.
  • I don’t do it that often but if I do as soon as I see the pending transaction I just send a faster payment from my current account (natwest) and then no issues using halifax’s payment systems.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing for years. In fact, sometimes I’ve paid £350 onto my Clarity Card before leaving home knowing I’d be withdrawing £400 from the ATM the next day. I tried to pay again yesterday but was unable to. It has appeared on my statement today so I’ve paid it off.

Went away at the end of August, struggled to find an ATM in Amsterdam but eventually did.

26 August made a withdrawal. Didn't appear on the app until the 27th though it affected the available balance. Put the payment through and it shows on the statement as received on 28th.

For what it's worth, it only cost me £0.06 in interest. Unless there's some other issue with credit ratings or similar it doesn't seem much of a hardship for the trade off of no currency fees. That said, you're right I'm sure you used to be able to pay against all transactions in advance.

I wonder if someone else shares this experience ? Clarity Card is a very good back up cash for cash withdrawal as it could be used in many countries.

In the past (not recent) I was able to put my clarity credit card balance in credit for a few days.

yes i have had the same message from Clarity when trying to pay , back in june

I did the same thing back a few years, never have a problem, but the amount of money is not significant, in average is around £500 it was always below £1000. But since two years I stop doing that as I now have a better way of withdrawing cash.

What I normally do is I program a few "future payments" using several current accounts. The future dates depend on the date when I inted to make cash withdrawals. So in general I was in credit for a few days as the money I withdrew was normally smaller than the money I trasferred using future payment.

But when I intend to use Clarity card for cash withdrawal, I make sure that the balance is nil and I stop using it for purchase untyil the next statement date. I never mixed cashwithdrawal and purchase using my clarity card.

But how would the OP breach the t&c’s if the ‘available credit’ amount remained the same or less than the credit limit after making the payment?

I see what you mean but the "Current balance" figure doesn't change until the transaction moves from pending to actually being posted, even though the "Available credit" changes before that. It's the balance figure that you're not supposed to let go positive.

I'm now home and received my statement with 61pence of interest. Well worth it in my opinion for getting access to commission-free cash and purchases.

There was a balance of just over £100. I went to do a debit card payment for the balance and it refused, saying I had made the maximum debit card payments in the last month. So it looks like 2 debit card payments in a month is the limit.
  • I had a thought. I sent £433 from my current account a few days ago rather than the App which I had been doing and today I withdrew 500 euros from an ATM. The £433 is now showing on my statement and the ATM withdrawal is showing as a pending transaction.
