Do we really need to move?

  • Seen a couple of 3 bed houses on right move for around £170-£190k I believe our house to be worth around £140k, our mortgage at the moment is about £306, could probably comfortably go to £500 month without over stretching but not sure what we could go up to.
  • We are looking to move in possibly 3 years when oldest daughter goes to big school, just need to start putting a bit away I guess!.

There were 6 of us in a 2 bed house when I was growing up. The solution then was to turn one of the two reception rooms into a bedroom.

Maybe living in such cramped conditions is why having plenty of space is so important to me now.

I shared a room with my sister until she was 16 and I was 11, then we moved and luxury got a bedroom each. We lived in a 3 bedroom house but the smallest bedroom was a guest room for my Nan when she stayed, thinking back never really understood why we couldn't have used it when she wasn't there....
I have two children but they are different sexes, they share if we go to a hotel /on holiday if needed but have always had their own rooms. As there is 8 years between them I think this is only fair.
Also son left home at 18, now 22 and is back....so dont think that wont happen!
My choice would always be to have the largest practical property but certainly to allow each child their own space, however, I wouldn't risk financial penury to do it!
