Vodafone Upgrade Fee Issue
Hi all
TIA but this may a length one, with replies needed ASAP before I go back to Vodafone.
Upgraded my current contract, knowing fine will I would be hit with a £147 early upgrade fee. On upgrading from the S8 to S10+ I enquired (live chat) as to whether I can spread the £147 cost over my contract and was told YES but to call back when the bill was generated.
Called back today to be told I could also spread the cost over 6 months max (payments £24 a month, opposed to £6.15).
Not including my upgrade fee, my current/new contract monthly costs are less then old one. Anyway, VF are refusing to approve the promise made on 10th August and want me to pay £147 over 6 months which i'm reluctant to do. (i've traded in my old S8 as well)
I have no dispute paying the 147, but over 24months (possibly 12/18).
Basically, where does one stand in the scenario and are they allowed to go back on a promise made by an advisor on live chat.
Ive been offered £40.00 credit tonight which will go toward my £147, but still need to pay in 6 months. Apparently the VOD team (customer relations) are the highest department at VF, so is 40.00 all im likley to get or can I push for more, and if so how much.
This issue is the latest from a string of problems I've had since upgrading early Aug - on/off/on/off live chat / calls to VF with no resolution at all and now i'm getting sick

In future I'd advise you to take screenshorts of any discussions you have.
I had an issue with Vodafone where they took £690 ish (can't remember the exact amount) but luckily I had a recording of a staff member telling me that it was common knowledge that the staff in the shops will say anything to get a sale. Using this recording I managed to get a full refund. I didn't actually play the recording?
I have to say, I would never, ever take out a Vodafone contract again.0 -

I have written proof of said conversations/promises?0 -
Is it really worth getting sick over a phone upgrade? There are more important things in life.
But basically you are breaking the original contract, so you are at their mercy really, and as there is an up-front fee to pay for breaking the contract, they obviously want it sooner rather than later. I actually think their offer to you so far is reasonable, but you can always try for more of course. Or, if it's making you that sick, don't proceed with the upgrade. After all, there is nothing wrong with an S8 for a few more months, is there?Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -

well, that would be fine, If I HAD an S8... this was traded in at upgrade so would be left without a phone. Im happy re give them back their £50 they paid me for the phone but they wont do that either
they offering $40 goodwill but even with that, £90 will not get me an S80
