So basically the advice on this from mr Lewis is take screenshots. That's it.
There is no get out, no clause to invoke if you cannot get through apart from that. As above, if you don't make a complaint you can prove you tried to make , you don't get an extension .Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

UK retail banks are the home of scandalous retail selling. I suggest anyone who has ever had any dealings with them whether or not it is just a current account, submits a claim for PPI misselling before midnight tonight. It is very easy using the online forms that each bank has to provide it seems. A number of banks sold PPI as "overdraft protection" on a current account and charged you for it monthly as what may have been an unnoticed fee, even if you were not using the overdraft facility. Bank staff could scarcely ever describe how that one worked, let alone the poor customer.
Scandalous. I know someone who received £5,000 compensation for exactly that when he'd called about a different product PPI and the claims clerk said he'd check for other products! He didn't even know he had been paying for it!0 -
I'm beginning to think reading peterbaker's diatribes that I must be the only person in the UK who has never been mis sold any insurance. I KNOW I haven't so I'm not going to waste my time asking. Roll on midnight!0

Can I just say....after a twelve hour day of insults and abuse.
There are others out there, who never sold loans or credit cards. They are small mutual lenders who never paid staff commission. They have extremely low complaint numbers and will often not even be charged by FOS as the numbers are so low.
Sure there will be an extremely rare case where Mortgage Payment Protection was not appropriate, but they are rare and they are compensated.
But when those companies get the abuse that I have received today because their records don't go back forty years, they won't pay money for a policy that never existed, they have the cheek to ask for documents and countless other reasons for "claiming".....well please remember that we are not all bankers!
My favourite today? A query on a £6.00 a month life insurance policy. Apparently not needed as someone was only in their twenties and in good health at the time!!
Enjoy your evenings and the last three and a half hours!I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -

I am really genuinely sorry that you have had such a bad time and been poorly treated. While I fully support people's right to check on their situation in regard to PPI, there is no excuse for abusing the people who are trying to sort it out.0 -

There was the recent Storage insurance debacle, for instance.
Get some rest, it's not (quite) over just yet...0 -
