Massive problems with Green Network Energy
Options
Hi all
I moved into a house early this year. First thing I did was change energy supplier from British Gas to Green Network Energy becuase GNE is a LOT cheaper than BG.
6 months later it transpires that GNE messed up the transfer and - despite me signing all their documentation, recieving welcome pack, paying them each month etc... - I am now LIABLE to pay BG's bill for all that time which is twice as much as GNE's bill!
GNE have since returned all the money theyve been taking out of my account, but now Im left with BG's bill!
Ive been dealing with Mark Garner at the Ombudsmen and he's upheld my complaint and said that GNE owe me a measly £30 for all the hassle Ive been through. BUT Im still liable for BG's hefty bill!!!
In what universe is this fair!?

You moved in and where on a deemed contract with BG .
Did you register with BG and then move or not register and took another supplier .
If you did not register with BG then you where on a standard tariff and owe BG through your mistake .0 -
I moved in. Then notified BG that I was now the property owner. I then transferred to GNE. Receievd confirmation of the transfer from both BG and GNE.0

You say the Onbudsman has upheld your complaint against GNE
So what is the massive problem? :huh:0 -

We can all suspect things.
I suspect quite a lot already in this thread
Lets await a full and complete response from the OP, shall we?0 -
Yes, of course BG's bill far exceeds the poultry £30! By nearly £300!!! Hence why I have an issue with it!
I dont know if its me being unreasonable, but surely I shouldnt have to pay BG's excessive bill!
I did my research; I signed the legal paperwork./contracts; paid the monthly bills. But through no fault of my own it turns out it was all a charade and I was never moved and so now owe over £550 to BG!0 -
dlive - perhaps you could give us the actual consumption in this period and details of the BG and GNE tariffs.
I doubt that BG is twice as expensive as GNENever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Ill need to dig out the paperwork (luckily I keep everything). I know with GNE (which has turned out to be entirely bogus!!) was 14.810p/kWh
But yes, BG's bill is about twice as much!
What recourse do I have? the ombudsman desicion is basicaly saying that they can give me £30. But through no fault of my own (entirely GNE's fault!) they messed up the transfer. And despite the contract I signed into; the confirmation documentation; BG confirming the supply was being transferred to GNE; money debited from my account each month etc... It turns out that Ive ALWAYS been with BG and so have to pay their high rates which is EXACTLY why I moved away!! Ive done nothing wrong and yet being penalised. Worse still the Ombudsman cant see how unfair this is and so obviously in cahoots with the energy suppliers. I really dont think you could get a more 'cut and dry' case as this!!
What recourse do I have? I bet I have none. Another consumer ripped off and stitched up.
The stupid thing is that I still want to go with GNE, but I think they should discount the balance between their bill and BG's.0 -
In my part of the world(West Midlands) GNE looks more expensive
BG Standard 17.722 p/kwh; 23.079 p/day
GNE Standard Variable 1 18.143 p/kwh ; 22.710 p/day
with my 4000 units a year GNE is £13 more expensive. (excluding cash backs)
Take the £30 - the word "Variable" means it would not be for me - I prefer fixed.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Good luck with your dispute! I too have massive problems with GNE (switched via MSE Cheap Energy Club). I am moving tomorrow, started the switch on 2 August, got all the welcome bumf, then noticed they'd started my switch on 23 August and have taken money from my account 1 week early, so I am still paying Scotpower here and GNE on a property to which I haven't moved yet. I did ring GNE to find out WHY my switch was completed before I'd moved. Adam at GNE says it's MSE's fault and MSE has to contact GNE to resolve it. I cannot find a way to contact MSE to explain all this? What an expensive and frustrating mess while I'm up to my ears with the frustration of packing and moving. Any ideas anyone?0
