Credit card payment not accepted by Fords of Windsord

Personally, I don't think I'd buy anything by bank transfer - let alone something I'm paying £20k for. You've basically got no payment protection whatsoever.
In the (probably unlikely) event that something "goes wrong", is this rare/unusual car of enough desirability to you that you're willing to run the risk? (If they go bust next week, you're stuck).
I also agree that if they're not particularly customer friendly before you've parted wit h 20k, what will they be like to deal with afterwards?0 -
For 20k at 3 years old it must be something special, so I'd push for a Ford aftermarket warranty if paying by transfer. If they wont do that, then walk. You can get the car much cheaper from an indy who will prolly throw in a 3 month warranty and take a credit card. What car is it? Your paying a premium for it being a dealer but not getting much backup should it go wrong. You can normally extend the warranty before it expires. But if it lapses then that's it.0

I think you've given me quite a useful reply.
I have just got off the phone with them and despite pressing them and even offering to pay a the incurred fees for a small credit card payment of £100 towards the purchase, they just don't want to entertain that idea at all. Something doesn't sound right and I won't be buying from them.
Its a great vehicle and with the right extras that I was looking for however definitely not worth the risk for a large purchase.
Thank you once again.0 -

Yes they do sell a 12 month warranty (at additional cost) however that's by a third party so I am not that impressed by that idea either.0 -

Have you checked your local VW dealership for similar cars? They should have access to used cars throughout the UK.
For £20,000 I would prefer to deal with an authorised VW dealer rather than an independent.
Good luck.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Odd for that money Def try main dealer0

What’s the going rate for a 3 year old Golf GTI from a non main dealer?I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

They are a business and can make a business decision as to what payment types the accept or don't accept. Either way, in my opinion, relying of S75 to deal with any issues on a used car is, at best, risky.
However, the biggest issue for me would be a dealer that you are spending £20K with not offering you anything better than a 30-day guarantee. I would have walked away already.0 -
