They told me they are not on the recognised list for the NHS medications for them to be prescribed but I find it bizarre they can prescibe a drug that stunts their growth, stops them eating etc.. but not one that may help their concentration!! But yes, I'll try.

I just rememberd, they often are obsessed by thomas the tank engine and line things up.well, i know that was a sign and what mine did.
My son used to be obsessed with thomas the tank engine, he used to line them all up in perfect lines!
He has had lots of obsessions including Thomas, dinosaurs (this lasted the longest and my lounge floor used to be covered in lined up dinosaurs largest to smallest!) star wars, the simpsons etc!
My son is now nearly 17 and has just passed ALL his GCSEs! I am very proud of him as he has been statemented since he was 7 & has struggled all through school (he was in mainstream school) so it is a big achievement!
His main problem is communicating with people his own age, he is fine with adults & small children but is not on the same level as the other kids at school, (does not get irony or facial expressions, does not like swearing or anything rude etc) He has never been bullied & all the children have always looked after him but he has never had anyone come round or phone!
Next week he is starting a course at college for children who have been statemented so I am hoping he will make some friends as they will all be similar to him.
When he was young he didnt sleep, was in nappies at night till he was 7, used to push children over wherever we went, roar at them like a dinosaur, not like any change, had no road sense and panic over small things!
Now he is very quiet, sleeps well, doesnt mind change (although he asks questions) walks the dog, has been to the gym & joined a youth club, he also has a job at my dads nursery a couple of hours on a saturday ( he lines the boxes of plants up perfectly!)
He is a completely different child to when he was young & I am very proud of him.:j2012 wins: American Anthem tickets, Illamasqua lipstick & mascara, Wireless tickets, Bakin boys cupcakes, Hotel Chocolat, Trip to LA & £500 spending money, cinema tickets, goodwood tickets, cocktail night at waldorf hotel, parmesan, Flip goody bag & case Relentless drink, Coke T-shirt, Gaymers cider, Bruce Lee T-shirt, DVD & poster:j0 -

My son has just started with a dinosaur obsession, quite late I think at age 7. It's our own fault for taking him to the Natural History Museum over the summer I think. Now we know ALL about dinosaurs...:rolleyes:They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Jeez the obsessions - we have travelled all over north america and my dd has had to sniff shampoos and look at tooth brushes in every mall we passed! it was the only way to get any shopping done! now she is fine as long as i am buying for her. The dominating obsession is toy story with woody dolls - had about 30 of them over the last 2 years!
i have always tried to moderate for change within her routines as sometimes you just cant use one road to travel to a location as it may be closed! although they dont support this i think its very good to blow routines out so that the children can be a little more adaptable in times of need - it also reduces stress levels for us parents when the unusual occurs!0 -

Obsessions, we have marbles and at the moment, road signs. I swear he could pass this theory test for all he knows about the road and driving!! The while journey is questions.
Oh, and he has toknow how everything works. He went up to the bloke in PC world and asked how the TV had all of the same pictures and could he take a look. He is 5. Everything in the house get's taken apart, he knows how to change batteries and on Wednesday he came up to me with a bell alarm clock with the back taken off saying 'mummy, let me show you how this clock works.... and he did'.
You have to smile.
I would like to share something my friends 6 yo son said, they were on holiday and were having a quiet moment together and he said 'mum, what do you think is the worst thing in the world?' she said she thought hard about it to give him an answer he would understand and she said 'I think it would have to be all of the wars in the world', he then turned and said 'Yes, war could be the worst thing in the world but I think it is mushrooms'. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I hope that has made you laugh as much as it did us!!0 -
My mum came into our front room one day to find I'd completely stripped down the piano, piece by piece... and laid it all out neatly across the floor. I just wanted to know how it all fitted together and where the noise came from/what made it.
I did put it back together again afterwards, which was easy as I'd laid it out so neatly as I was taking it apart.
This was an old fashioned piano from 1890-1910 or so. Inside I found some newspapers from the 1920s and some silver thrupenny bits.0 -

Just need some advice.
My son is 7 and on the autistic spectrum (probably aspergers - going through diagnosis now).
Since returning to primary 2 five weeks ago he has gone in under protest every single day and having requested a meeting with the school it appears that he is refuses to behave and won't do class work, which is monopolising the teachers time. (2 teachers in the class for 22 kids).
He is only in mainstream school Mon - Thur morning and all day friday. The rest of the time he goes to a special school with one to one teaching.
Does anyone have any advise on how I can get him to go in happy and behave?
He says it's noisy/too hard/too easy - but on a good day these things don't bother him.
The school is very supportive and are going to send home a card each day letting me know if it's a good day or a not so good day - and then I can reward him at home accordingly and hope this will work.
Is there anything else that I could try?
We're meeting up again in mid october at which point the edu.psychologist will be called in.
He is capable of the work, but doesn't seem prepared to join in with any of the class teaching.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
