My car also has traffic sign recognition, so it (together with built-in maps) knows (as best as it can) what the current speed limit is. (I don't think it visually recognises single/dual carriageway roads to know whether the National Speed Limit sign means 60 or 70 - I reckon it must use maps/GPS coordinates for that).

Mine also doesn't slow the vehicle (as of now) ... even the Speed Limiter is only an audible indication.

The indicators being street furniture such as lamp post spacing if no speed signs and so forth.

I'm sorry that you have shortcomings in basic driving technique and think I am something special. A few more lessons might see you up to speed about road traffic sign recognition and other roadcraft.

    Sense of humour bypass? ;)

    And what?

It's words on a screen so i read it as i read it and such is life.

It's ok the other way around when some of the people on here get all uppity over my posts and jump to conclusions, getting all aggressive/condescending/generally arsey for no reason .... but then it's an issue when i do the same?

MSE: Do as i say, not as i do.

Oh and btw, i don't do humour, i do sarcasm :) I know people don't like it but then people always advise you to be yourself ... so they can't have it both ways. ;)
Not very well, nevermind, lifes too short.......:D

Regards this new car talk you speak of .... with the price range i buy cars at i may get to that in about 30 years :D That bit wasn't sarcasm btw, although i may be out by a couple years or so.
Hopefully they don't scrap anything older than 5 years old in the future....

    According to you.
But then everyone who's on the receiving end always say that don't they but when they do it ... nobody does it better, right?

If i could predict what the future would bring then i'd be making myself a millionaire on Friday's draw, not worrying about car law.

I think it's more likely that they'll make it compulsory for every vehicle to have some kind of black box fitted. You could then do away with all these few metre strips of speed cameras scattered here there & everywhere because people would just get busted regardless of where they are. I think it's much more likely to bring the death count down than a few roadside cameras.

But again, that's just guesswork & wild predictions as well ;)

  • On my Android phone, I only get the Speedometer displaying (in Maps, via Android Auto) when I am navigating to a destination. If not actively navigating, and just showing current location as driving, then no speedo.

I don't get it at all when using AA ... it does show in Maps on the phone itself. (I checked that this morning by navigating to my work).
