Google Maps - showing speed limits??

What's Weird about it?
Do I use Google Maps in anything else? Not in the car - No need.
You don’t use it (the speedometer I guess since that’s what we’re talking about) in anger?
Good for you. Do you use it in a state of happiness or is that another emotion you choose not to use it in?
If someone asked if I had milk I would likely say yes or no. Chances of me saying yes I have milk but I never use it when angry? Hmm, can’t say I’ve ever done that :rotfl:unforeseen wrote: »A) I have a perfectly serviceable speedometer on my vehicleI tend to look at the road signs and other indicators of speed limits on the road as I drive along. Good on you :T0 -
It doesn't seem to work on Android Auto though - only directly through the phone.
I was going to post to say the same thing ... there's no Speedo reading/display when connected via Android Auto. (It would be useful, to give a comparison between the GPS "speed" versus the car's speedo reading).0 -

I believe the indicator was to show speedometer not speed limit.0 -

Ok i've not tested that over thousands of devices and cars but i have tested it over a good number of devices & apps as well as cars and differing speedometer units within the same car (unrelated story, kinda), i'd say probably more than your average user.
In every case bar none the difference was 2mph. That's a lie - there was another case where the difference was different ... but that was due to the speed unit itself which we were able to rectify .... and then it became 2mph difference like the rest.I believe the indicator was to show speedometer not speed limit.
I would like the speed limit shown as it'd be 'always on'. Unlike Mr. Perfect over there i may actually connect on to a road where the limit isn't shown for a few minutes of my drive. I may just simply miss it ... because after all i'm a mere mortal and not perfect. Sure the limit on the app shouldn't be taken as gospel but 99% of the time from my experience it'll be correct and is better than nothing. Only once have i ever caught one out & that's because the limit had changed - it took a few weeks/months for the app to update.0 -

Seems an apt comment.0 -

Nice attempt at humour, even if it has fallen a bit flat....;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

All new cars are/will be fitted with Intelligent Speed Assistance(ISA). They will use sign recognition cameras or GPS to determine the required limit. The car will automatically be slowed down when required.
This is in preparation for the new legislation agreed earlier this year. Luckily the powers that be saw sense and the regs will allow the driver to disable the system if so required.
I have the system on my car but the auto part is disabled by the manufacturer at present. No doubt a system update in the future will engage it.......until I disable it.

Except that wasn't what I meant.......You read it wrong.....:rotfl:The subject was Google maps, which I don't use in the car as the car system does what we were talking about....

It's words on a screen so i read it as i read it and such is life.
It's ok the other way around when some of the people on here get all uppity over my posts and jump to conclusions, getting all aggressive/condescending/generally arsey for no reason .... but then it's an issue when i do the same?
MSE: Do as i say, not as i do.
Oh and btw, i don't do humour, i do sarcasmI know people don't like it but then people always advise you to be yourself ... so they can't have it both ways.
Regards this new car talk you speak of .... with the price range i buy cars at i may get to that in about 30 yearsThat bit wasn't sarcasm btw, although i may be out by a couple years or so.
