Since this message board more than any other message board in my 18 years of being on them seems to have an obsession with knee-jerking "ask Google" when someone asks a question....

First off, Menu is not a magnifying glass icon on my phone but whatever ... i can navigate to settings at least. From there i see no mention of Speedometer.

I'm on iOS if that matters. Is this Speedometer something that's only available on an actual Google phone?
I know Google bought Waze. Overall i prefer Google Maps, i just wish it told you A) the speed you were going and
the limit of the road you're on.

- Tap the Menu
, then Settings
- Tap Speedometer.
- Turn on Show speedometer

Google maps does all you want on Android, not sure about IOS. Google have been adopting some of the Waze trickery to improve their maps. They also show speed cameras.
That said the speed limit and speed are both shown on my car dash, so I don't use it in anger.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Can any other iOS user confirm this? I'm currently running 12.4 with latest Google Maps app.
When i head to "Navigation" i get (in order)...
Sound & Voice - Mute state
Guidance volume
Play voice over Bluetooth
Play as Bluetooth phone call
Music playback controls
Route options - avoid motorway
avoid tolls
avoid ferries
Map display - colour scheme (actually happy they spell that with a u in there)
Keep map up north
Parking - save parking location
And that's it. No mention of Speedometer. That said the speed limit and speed are both shown on my car dash, so I don't use it in anger.
Do you use it in anything else?0 -
Just looked this up on the wifes Huey phone. Sure enough, must be an Android thing only.0

No I can't get the speed on my iPhone either.
I do get an additional option to you though. After Parking - save parking location, I have Walking options - Live view on or off.0 -
Well on my Android version ..
In Navigation settings
I do get "Speedometer"
Does that mean it also informs about speed cameras ? or just over speed warnings
But I don't get "Parking - save parking location" in settings ? but can do it by tapping on the blue 'my location' dot
which setting seems to appear on iOS according to earlier post0 -
I got the speedometer a few months back, but I had to join the google maps beta program to get it :

It doesn't seem to work on Android Auto though - only directly through the phone.0 -

A) I have a perfectly serviceable speedometer on my vehicleI tend to look at the road signs and other indicators of speed limits on the road as I drive along. A lot more accurate and up to date than Google Maps any day.
