Can you phone the environmental health department again............keep complaining until something is done, easier said than done I know. Maybe a phone call to the police may help? Even though it isn't a matter for the police they may be able to have a word with this moron.
I know how you feel as my parent's had neighbours from hell a few years ago when I was back living with them for a while. In the end the neighbours moved out one night never to be seen again thank God.

Noisy neighbours really are a scourge. Do you live in houses? Can you possibly locate the electricity supply for his house? In some blocks of flats there are a set of circuit breakers.

I think if I'd tried several reasonable routes to lowering noise levels, say over a few months, then I'd take to waiting until 6am and then placing large speakers against the wall and listening to repetitive noise. Actually, continuous looping of certain songs might produce more effect.

The job would have to be done properly; a seriously loud system, capable of drowning out the opposition.

Because there's no way in Hell the situation will improve if you do so. They won't say, "Oh, gee... I don't like when they play their music loud so I think I'd better stop doing it, myself." The only thing you'll accomplish is escalating the fight. Who wants that? Crazy people, is who.

I reluctantly agree with the above. Escalating things will only make it worse. Bit of a radical suggestion, but despite the punching incident, could your boss go round and try and reason with the guy?

In my experience, all but the most obnoxious ***** are somewhat embarrassed when the consequences of their actions are explained to them in a reasonable way. Of course punching him is undoubtedly more satisfying.

my boss has tried to reason with the guy and the guy in question says sorry etc but 2 days later the music is on again..there is only so many times you try.

Been there done that brought the tshirt, these are the excuses

Environmental health - while you do own the house and they are housing assosiation, but now the HA are involved were leave it to them

Housing association - we are doing everything possible - it is in the hands of the solicitor, just keep on keeping records, get to court eventually, but with xmas and new yr were looking at Feb at the earliest

Police - its a civil complaint - the HA are responsible if it continues after 11pm ring us, and were see if there is an officer who can attend!
(bear in mind when my darling neighbour tried to ramraid my car whilst my daughter and I was in it, then threatened me with voilence, abuse and threaten to push the car over and drive into with my daughter still in there, who at this point was hysterial, 999 call

TOOK 3 DAYS TO GET A C.S.O, ROUND AND A 5 WEEKS BEFORE THEY TOOK A STATEMENT!

Solicitors - first for harresment as civil matter, got no where they backed off, then as it meant the HA werent doing there job properly ie letting him get away with blue murder would need a different solicitor - as it was legal aid in the locallity there is only 1 solicitor that has the legal aid for this

Guess what hes got that many clients he couldnt take another case on as it was legal aid, so got a firend to ring same enquiry - not on legal aid - when did they want to come in!

All back to square 1 x

    Hence not holding my breath.

Without sounding callous, he must of pulled last night as he didnt come home so one peacefuls night sleep!

I wish I lived nearby. This guy needs sorting out
My thoughts are with you, only wish there was something I could do.
Keep complaining until something is done. Do you have a camcorder to use for evidence ie threatning behaviour? Record the noise if you can and keep a diary.
    Best wishes, Dan

The camcorder - yes we do have one - but - if weuse it when hes threatenng us were infringing his human rights, if we want to put a cctv camera on the outside of the house we have to put a big sign up saying this house in on cctv again it can be classed as infringing his human rights!

asmy daughter would say Im good at complaining - she was asked once at school what does your mummy do - instead of saying either shes studying or mystery shops, ny darling daughter said "mummy is a professional kicker off - she does nothing but complain" - shes only 5!

Thank you, you sound an absolute gentlemen, ur wife / gfriend lucky lady x

    mum2one,

Sounds like its time to put your "professional kicker off" skills to use, preferably in writing or person, phone is no good for complaining in my experience. They forget as soon as you put it down.

All those ineffective state agencies you mentioned have complaints procedures, ombudsman, councillors, MPs etc. that oversee them. Find out which ones for which, and then bug them.

Do whatever it takes to prod them in to action...maybe I'm too optimistic, but I believe its possible if you complain enough to the right people! Don't let the ******* win.

This might help too...you don't need a solicitor:
