  • In spite of the gloomy situation we find ourselves in today wasn't too bad a day. I woke up v early as usual and decided to stop being a complete tightwad and order my kids a trampoline. This is due to be delivered tomorrow, however after the latest announcement this evening I suspect it won't arrive sadly. Completely support the government stance though so smile and accept the situation.

Tomorrow is first day of mummy teacher and surprisingly my eldest is keen to do his school work. I wonder how long that will last! Anyway lets see how we get on.

The trampoline arrived yesterday and my poor partner had the joys of putting it together with the kids supervising him especially boss baby. Trampoline was finally finished just before it got dark, little one was adamant at going on there before bed, so after a quick bounce & lots of giggles it was time for a quick bath and off to bed...

So today was another wfh day minus kids. Thankfully they were at their dad's so I could actually get a bit of work done. This week has been challenging! Home schooling and working full time don't mix that well eek!

Not much to report on the money side, apart from the realisation that I really need to get an emergency fund of minimum 3 months wages put aside to cover me if I found myself in the situation some families are facing at the moment. I do have some savings but this is mainly ear marked for house deposit so don't really have a lot to fall back on. In the new year I started a Christmas 2020 reg saver and joined in the save a 1p a day savings challenge. This was to give me a bit of extra cash for Christmas and I think whatever is left I will use as the base for my emergency fund.

Well done on your partner putting up the trampoline. They are hard work! But such a good thing, especially atm. My boys love ours.

Agree about the emergency fund, we are lucky with my partners job, especially as both mine are not looking good.

  • For the past week or so I have been umming and aaahhh about some Amazon garden purchases and in the end I just bit the bullet and spent a bit of money from the joint account. So I have bought a rotating composter, composting starter and an outdoor clothing line. The composter was a bit of a treat as I am enjoying starting the vegetable plot going and cutting grass etc and plan to chuck in the appropriate vegetable peelings too. The kids will enjoy the making it tomorrow.

Working from home and home schooling is proving really difficult but getting there. I'm enjoying day 2 of the kids not being here and working in peace but tomorrow they are back and so the craziness continues.... bring on the wine!  :p

Yesterday I took opportunity of current situation and got myself another balance transfer card but with a lower rate. I have two balance transfers which need moving in June and July, so whilst the balance transfer rate was low and for a longer period I took advantage and combined the two balances into one. I'm going to work on clearing the balance over the next 2 years to be finally debt free! yay!

I am also umming and ahhing on getting the man round to do some garden work. He is still working atm, and it would be the front garden and bank transfer payment. I could do it myself, but hate gardening so much and he could probably do with the cahh which I have so.....

  • Well its 1am in the morning and I cannot sleep! I have been so stressed out recently about the impact of the situation we find ourselves in and the impact on my job. I won't bore with the details but I have one of those crappy disciplinary meetings tomorrow which i dont think will go in my favour and I'm so upset about it I just can't settle. I just think the pressures on everyone is immense and its hard to 'breathe' at times. I thought an update on my diary may help. I'd like to write so much more but its not appropriate for this forum. I am frightened of loosing my job not just on my finances but on my mental health which is giving me anxiety and got me into the mess I am in now. All I can say though to anyone else feeling like I am, stay strong and stay healthy. Time for a decaf tea me thinks.  <3
