Well its Saturday evening and today has been testing. We were meant to be visiting grandparents who live out of the city and because of the virus we didn't go, didn't want to put the relatives at risk. Kids have been fighting all day, they are disappointed, as am I. I hate to waste money at the best of times but when its hotel and travel costs its even worse :( oh well can't be helped.

Today was a round robin of picking parcel up at the sorting office, swapping library books and braving the supermarket. Supermarket was ah hem bare to empty, one saving grace, not many customers when we were in! Anyway bought most of what we needed which is good.

So in the past week I over 1k has been wiped off my stocks and shares isa and so currently 1k also off my house deposit too. Yes I know fully the risks of putting money in the stock market but hey ho. So this afternoon I adjusted my savings spreadsheet to effectively remove the isa funds and yikes won't be going anywhere anytime soon. On the positive I have also spent some time decluttering the home office area (ie broom cupboard!), it needed it as this week we are testing WFH & can't stand working in a mess.

  • I really am struggling to sleep at the moment, so much whirling around my head. So with all the shut downs going on globally I have taken the difficult decision to downgrade the risk rating on the stocks and shares isa. Its now losing capital and making me nervous of losing more. I was on a high risk rating but moved it to a more medium risk, just to see how it goes. I'll increase it again soon when this virus starts improving in Europe but for now I think its just going to be eating away at capital, yikes!

Right better get ready for work and crack on with the day

Just popping in to say congratulations on your journey to date.  I know it feels scary having your deposit invested in the stock market, but in my view you've done the right thing in reducing the risk profile rather than putting it into cash  as that would just crystallise your losses.  It will all settle down over time and unless you were planning to move soon, investments usually end up outperforming everything else.  Is there any.poss of getting debt onto a lower interest rate as the base rate has dropped? Have subscribed and look forward to your ongoing adventures.  Humdinger
  • Hello Friday,
I haven't popped into my diary for a few days as I have been busy with my new working from home environment and all the business that's going on in the world.  I am definitely making the most of not having to pay travel fares to work and currently focusing efforts to use this extra freed up cash to clear my overdraft.

Last night I signed the remaining divorce related forms in ironically company of my partner and my soon to be ex husbands partner. We all actually get on quite well, but it was a bit surreal. Anyway from monday im no longer married. I'm sad about it but hey ho.

So this weekend I don't have the kids so it will definitely be a quiet one, I need to spend a bit of time researching activities for the kids next week with schools now off and my lovely flat needs a clean. If I'm really good I want to dust off the sewing machine and try to figure out how it works. I bought it three years ago but never quite got off the starting block so now seems the perfect opportunity to do so.

  • Hi sunny saturday from the Capital its a bit chilly but nice and bright blue skies - always welcomed in my world.

So last night I think I got more sleep - I have been sleeping terribly recently. Going to sleep say 9pm and then waking up bright as a button at 3 or 4am! Anyway i still woke up at 3, quick chat to my night working partner and a sip of water and  then back to sleep for a couple of hours.

So this weekend I have started the usual cleaning, I need to pop out and try to get some bread and a few bits from the corner shop and get some exercise. So all in all not that exciting day but nice and relaxing :)

I have been sleeping poorly too. Waking at 5 most mornings. Putting it down to bad diet, stress and perimenopause 🙄

  • Good Morning Sunday & Happy mothers day <3

I'm impressed with myself this morning, after much procrastinating and generally being lazy I got up and went for a jog and feel so much better for it! Deliberately took a longer route and pushed myself as I have been feeling that maybe exercise just might do me good! After the jog was over I treated myself to a sunday newspaper. Love newspapers but usually don't have time to read them but today I just fancied it.

Last night I had a bit of an embarrassing situation, my lovely lawyer friend came around to assist in some legal paperwork. Well we had no formally arranged time and it was getting late in the day and she'd not shown up so I decided to get comfy and open one of the half bottles of prosecco. So I happily drunk that and was feeling a bit woozy (lightweight drinker!) and then knock at the door and it was my friend. Nothing silly happened but I just couldn't focus properly and was trying hard to..! Anyway all was sorted which needed to be so another minor job ticked off the never ending task list.

So back to today, I am trying really hard to do this self isolation thing and stay at home but I do need to pop out to pick up a yoga mat from a certain catalogue shop. Its really close to my home but will take myself later in the day before the shop shuts. Its reserved.
