Wow, what a hostile forum this is. I only joined today and all I'm seeing in these threads is the same few people jumping down the persons throats claiming because they had PPI they can't possibly of been missold it.
Do most of you work for banks or something?!
The whole point in reclaiming PPI, means you had it in the first place, and was probably told, like myself, you had to have it or you wouldn't get the loan/mortgage/credit card etc.
Perhaps Wonga always had PPI on them because they were told the same as me - that without it you couldn't have the loan etc!0 -
I work for a bank handling PPI complaints but that’s by the by - I’m not on a retainer.
If you’re referring to me, can you tell me where I’ve wrongly told someone they can’t possibly have been missold?
Thanks in advance xxhelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -

The fact is more than 50% of people who raise a PPI reclaim complaint never had PPI.
It is quite clear you misunderstand much about PPI.0 -

I wasn't referencing you in particular.
The comment from "AnotherJoe";
"So, on what basis would you claim you were missold it, since it seems to have been an active choice of yours to have it ???"
was one of many I've read in this sub forum alone.
It made me chuckle when on the main MSE PPI site it states;
"Just having had PPI means you were mis-sold and are likely due a payout"0 -

So that gives people the right to jump down peoples throats when they even mention thinking about reclaiming,
Oh and please do enlighten me about PPI.0 -

However, even the Plevin reference is inaccurate because Plevin by no means applies to everyone who had PPI.
The MSE advice articles are brief and simple so as not to put potential complainants off. Forum responders are under no obligation to follow that lead.
What I will say is that what you perceive as forum "negativity " is largely down to the posts that are being responded to. If a complaint is weak or not valid then the responses reflect that.
EDIT:So that gives people the right to jump down peoples throats when they even mention thinking about reclaiming0 -

Are you referring to this page
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2017/08/new-ppi-rule-means-millions-more-could-claim-/
Which refers to Plevin redress, which is a whole different kettle of fish to being missold. It refers to undisclosed commission on policies sold between certain dates. So yes, you may be due a refund if you complain under the Plevin ruling (and your account is eligible) but If that quote is attributed to mis-sale and not Plevin then it’s disingenuous at best and potentially misleading at worst.helpful tips

Oh and I had mortgage PPI and haven't made a complaint. Can you tell me why you think it was mis-sold and that having had it makes me likely to be due a payout?0
