Good tyre deal from Kwikfit but bad reviews
I've just got a good deal on Goodyear all season tyres for my car (195/50/15) £200, which includes tyre fitting! I paid in a hurry, without checking out reviews, only to find out later that my local store has poor reviews  Now I'm trying to decide if I should just cancel this'too-good-to-be-true' order or cross my fingers and hope for the best. What would you do?

What are the bad reviews for, unnecessary work?0

KF do have something of a reputation for magically finding tons of "potentially lethal" defects on your car when you take it in for a simple job like tyres. As long as you only let them change the tyres, and ignore their dire warnings about every other component on your car, you'll be fine. Replacing tyres is one of the few things they can actually do to a reasonable standard (usually!!).0

My local KF used to 'forget' to balance the wheels! And used horrible clip-on weights on alloy wheels!
The one near work was brillaint though.0 -
this is exactly what I read in the reviews! I'm not good at saying no but I will take your advice and try to just ignore any mysterious 'issues' they come up to. I'm getting the tyres changed this weekend, will come back with an update afterwards. Thanks!0

Yes it was. My car is not new (just over 7 years old) and I don't know much about cars in general, which is why I am worried they may try to drum up unnecessary issues.0

Whaaat? Fingers crossed all goes well with mine because I haven't the foggiest idea how to spot unbalanced wheels!0

If the wheels are not balanced, the car will try and shake itself to pieces between about 50 mph and 70mph, depending on the size of the wheels.
You will know if they are not balanced
Balancing modern alloy wheels is really easy, they have a machine that tells them how much weight to stick on, and where. It would be easier and need less weights if they put the tyres on in the right place to start with, but I'd be surprised if they do that
(The red dot should line up with the dot/mark on the rim. If there isn't one, then the yellow dot is placed next to the valve)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Just tell them any repairs they recommend you will have done at your usual mechanic. If they refuse to give you the keys etc that is not acceptable. Just say No.0

Kwikfit are only as good as the guy you happen to get working on your car on the day.
I had really bad experience with McConechy's.
Turned up for the appointment
Your tyres have not been delivered, will phone when they arrive.
On the way home, we found your tyres they were behind another customers
Waited ages whilst they fitted them
Next morning I have a flat tyre
Inflated the tyre and went back to McConechy's
The valve is leaking we shall fit a new one
Two weeks later tyre pressure monitor alarm = leaking again
I check with water to find it is leaking around the valve stem and suspect the muppet did not apply the solution they ought to use to seal.
I don't want to go back to McConechy's ever again.
My car is due a service in a few months I shall just keep checking until then and have the dealer check it.
