Seller wants to take light fittings and curtain rails?

Well, shoot me down, y'all. In our last move we took all sorts of things you would normally leave but made it perfectly clear to our buyers both in person and on the F and F form we were doing so. Our reasons were personal and mostly sentimental.
We offered to replace the door knobs (yes, you read that right; end of line, never seen anything like them again) and other stuff like light fittings but they said they would prefer to choose their own. We offered to reduce the price to cover these items and they politely declined! I think they knew they were getting a bargain and seemed to love the house as much as we did.
We did leave them some patio furniture, a petrol mower and a whole load of other stuff which more than covered the cost of the items we were taking so I do not think they felt short-changed at all, probably because we were very upfront about it from the word "go". So long as they were happy...
That reminds me, we took some door knobs - and finger plates - from our last (Victorian) house tooThese were old, ornate, copper ones, one set actually had art nouveau style maidens' faces hammered into the surface (much better than it sounds, lol!) that cost a small fortune. Again we explained to our buyers what our intentions were and replaced with good quality modern reproductions of period style fixtures....

OK so by coincidence I've just received the latest F&Fforms for the dooer upper we're currently having a go at purchasing...
OP think yourself lucky that they've bothered to have an attempt at completing it,the form ive been sent our seller gave up answering any questions after the kitchen.
So its already been 4 months its a very protracted buy as the sitting tenant is waiting to be housed by who knows who but will probably end up at full eviction...so clearly the seller is at present hedging his bets that there is unlikely to be much left in the property after the tenant actually leaves.
Now that then leaves me with the moral dilemma of potentially gazundering simply because the property is not worth what it was valued at in the original valuation nor bearing any resemblance to what we agreed a price on....so far there have been a list of queries on the lease almost as long as your arm and what we thought we were purchasing in terms of EA details is quite wide of the mark...but not totally insurmountable with a price reduction. How that's going to sit with the seller who still sees it as the new build property they originally bought is anyones guess.
We are hoping to be in by Christmas and starting refurbishments but I can see a total collapse close to exchange if I don't remain optimistic.
This one is turning into the purchase from hell and beyond...I'm still clinging to the hope that its cheap so still worth it but I wonder if that optimism will diminish as winter draws in.in S 38 T 2 F 50

Courage, need an answer.
You are not exactly unseasoned in the house-buying process, I think it is fair to say. I realise the fact this is a home rather than a rental you are buying makes a difference.
Your vendor sounds as if he/she needs a serious wake up call. "New build" is new only to the first person who buys it, just as a car is... Hello-ooh!
I know you will not allow yourself to be ripped off and do not hold out much hope for the vendor if they try to mess you about.0 -
No Smodlet...this is another rental...we just don't want to take on the tenant in situ on this one...we've taken on tenants in the past but the first meeting with this tenant really didn't go well..
Oh my,I could write a book on this purchase ..its been a classic.in S 38 T 2 F 50

All this stuff will be tomorrow's junk at the skip. I think it's best if everyone just always takes their stuff with them. I'm fed up of people thinking I want their stuff.
Too much stuff in the world.

I agree our seller left light fittings that are now at the dump or charity shop. They left window poles that are in the loft and curtains now used as dust sheets. All their taste not ours.0 -

Called that one wrongly. So the tenant will just be made homeless?0 -

Soft furnishings and furniture like wardrobes etc, I don’t care for. Just I don’t know why they are removing the poles. It’s ok as they as leaving the oven and a wood burner.0
