freyasmum, I am green with envy!! must hassle sainsburys, must hassle sainsburys!! I left my email so will get notification if they start delivery to my area, thats how I found out about Adsa.
D&DD - I didnt realise they did phone ordering first .... wont ask how long ago that was!
lil_me, I've never used my supermarket com (had nothing to compare!!) but will check that out, thanks for the reminder and thanks for the tip on substitution, might have to try that one!....
Driver did comment it wasn't the worst he'd seen as he'd just delivered a supersize packet of condoms to an 86 year old [/QUOTE

Sorry, OT!
Our worst sub was when we ordered a load of vegetarian stuff to stock the freezer up with a couple of years back - several packs of Quorn burgers, sausages, fillets, pieces and mince, when sub'ed, became two packs of chilled beef steaks and 4 beef burgers!
As a family of veggies and vegans, we decided to send them back!!0 -
With Tesco and Ocado announcing they plan to increase the delivery charge basically because they can at Christmas, they make about £1.50 already off the delivery charge but are increasing it supposedly to over £9 I think that has helped me to decide who to shop with. One day I might be more organised...........

Lil_me - we dont have Ocado in our area, never heard of them, I can get deliveries from Tesco and - from next week - from Asda so not much choice for me! I dont have a car anymore so online is my lifeline really.
When I had a car I used to shop at Morrisons mostly, sometimes at Tesco; it was nice to have a different choice occasionally.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

We used to live next to an ASDA and we used to love shopping there, not only the choices were bigger but also the times the shop was open were really good and convenient for us.
We used to do all our online shopping through Tesco and so because we liked ASDA so much we decided to try and change our online shopping to ASDA too.
First time, it wasn´t that bad, the site is quite rubbish and not user friendly but we managed, despite the need of memorizing a new ID and not being able to locate products it wasn´t that bad, the shopping arrived only half an hour later than the time it was supposed, I accept it must have been the traffic.
Second time, the order didn´t arrive on time at all, and so, one hour after the slot I had booked had passed, I decided it was time to call the customer service, they didn´t even apologize, they just called the driver and even so I had to wait another hour and a half until the order arrived, the driver didn´t apologized either, he just said he wasn´t supposed to be working that day, the big mistake from my side was to place the order on a Saturday, because that got me stuck at home for the whole day waiting to see if one of the guys wanted to deliver...
And now the big one.
Last Wednesday I placed an order with ASDA. It was supposed to arrive yesterday Friday the 23rd between six and eight PM.
Not only the order didn´t arrive on time, it is that I just couldn´t even go through to the customer services, I tried for more than one hour and a half to get through to them and it was impossible.
This morning, Saturday I finally managed to get to them and the guy didn´t even apologized he just asked me if I was going to spend the whole day at home waiting for them, so he could make sure that my shopping would arrive.
Of course I canceled my order and of course they have lost a customer for ever.
I just placed my order with the good old guys from TESCO and from now on it is going to be like that.
By the way, ASDA delivery is more expensive than TESCO depending on the day and you need to place a minimum order of 25 pounds that at the end makes you spend more money than TESCO...
My advice, do not use ASDA online services unless you are ready to be at home waiting for your delivery at least 48 hours. If so I shall suggest you pop corn and a few movies to wait for it.
Good luck.0 -

I have shopped with Sainsburys, Asda, Ocado (Waitrose) and Tescos. Currently I use Tesco, as the shopping is always on time, and the delivery drivers are nice - taking it all into the kitchen for me when I had had an operation and wasn't supposed to lift anything. Asda were fine for a while, then it all went to pot - orders constantly late, and over 10 substitutions every single time. They do charge a lot for delivery - I normally have a Thursday morning delivery - but then I haven't looked at the Asda delivery prices for a while.
I started off shopping with Asda over the phone - you used to get a brochure and had to read out the code numbers - it used to take ages :rotfl:Sainsburys I found to be ok - a bit expensive, and not much choice, but they may have changed now. Ocado was far too expensive, and there were too many things they didn't stock that I wanted, so I always ended up going to the supermarket as well, which kind of misses the point of online shopping :rotfl:

oh i so wish we had an asda on isle of wight. everytime i go to mainland i stop off on way home at an asda. i love it.
the response to what there delivery service is like seems very vaired. i guess best way would be to try and see and if u don't get on then u know.
i haven't done a sainsbury shop , might do tho as i've seen some great offer's. and there nappies are the best for my son ever.
does anyone rememeber when iceland used to do telephone orders and u could pay the delivery guy with cheuqe or cash , or card over phone. i miss iceland online delivery , even tho their website was a real night mare.
i hope u get to try your asda online.
And ps your not sad. we have awaitrose being built on island and should be open by spring. i'm mega chuffed with that. ( but hey i just love food shopping so that may be why, lol)0 -
caifas I think it would be unfair to treat every Asda in the same way because of the service you have received. It does depend from store to store as others have proved with the very mixed experiences on the service you receive. Asda online may be a service we all order from the same, but where the order goes to and how it is dealt with depends completely on the area. The worst experiences I have had are with Tesco.
JCR - I remember when we could order online or by phone with Iceland too, shame they don't do that any more. Stopped just after someone I know who's Dad was the old director for Iceland moved away from the area (was a student up here) he used to pass complaints on directly :rotfl: I stopped using them as the only store then was in town it's tiny and always running out of stuff, a nightmare for parking, hike to the bus stop so getting stuff home was bad, saying that I live nearer a different town now which has one, might have a look when I go there, I think the parking is better there. One day I might be more organised...........
