Asda v Tesco online

I'm very excited (what a sad life I lead :p ) because Asda are to start deliveries to my area next week.

Now I already have a trolley 'picked' on Tesco.com for delivery in the next couple of weeks but now wondering whether I might try Asda instead.

Any hints, please, on what's good from asda? I'm quite happy to try own brands, value/smart price etc?

    hi,

don't want to be a kill joy, but everytime we and fil have tried asda online, they have been absolutelty rubbish. Things like arrriving late, half the stuff not there. Tesco have a far better delivery service:money: I know asda's delivery is cheaper, but they aren't half as good

  • Asda have just started delivering to our area recently, We had our first delivery today, it was fine.. Arrived on time, no substitutions, and i used an e voucher so got free delivery. Mind you only used them once but no probs at all.

I also find there website easier than tescos as you can shop by aisle, but thats prob just me lol..

Also the money doesnt come out off your account until day of delivery, and you can amend order up till day before and book a delivery slot 3 weeks in advance. When ive used tescos you have to have the money in your account there and then even if its not being delivered for a couple of days. This is handy for us as i can do the shop before we need it and know that money will be in account to pay for it on day of delivery.

They also had loads of great offers on and we saved loads..

    Hth :)

And your not that sad, I was sooo excited when i realised they were delivering in our area lol, nice to have the choice!

  • No you're not sad, I was very excited when I was told they deliver round here now only to discover that my postcode is ever so slightly further out and so they STILL won't deliver here, grrrr. And I have begged!

Thanks for the input, I think I might try them with just a small one before christmas and see how we do. I've envied the people on here who have a choice of asda, tesco and sainsburys (not that I'd choose sainsburys very often but still nice to have the choice and the variety).

I'll report back when I've had the delivery :)

I've never personally had an asda delivery... I find the website annoying to work with. I find tesco is easier to work. My mum prefers asda.

Just wanted to correct a few things here....

Tesco delivery slots can also be booked up to 3 weeks in advance.

I always have a 10-12 monday morn delivery slot, and am able to amend shop as many times as I want up until 4.44am on day of delivery.

I have no money in my account when I do my initial order, as my money goes in bank on a monday (hence mon del slot) and I usually do shop on a sat/sun when i probably have less than a tenner in account (once I had 3p) and I have never had any probs, because the money does not leave the account until the shopping has been picked and put through till.

I do not mean to be pedantic in any way but I have used Tesco delivery on and off for a number of years (5mths on run at moment) and can't see myself stopping now they have been brilliant.....

I have used Asda also on 3 occasions all 3 times they were late and on 1 occasion forgot my frozen food, then for some reason a week later decided to charge me for a shop I hadn't done!!!!

I do know some people who use them and have no probs though, so maybe it varies area to area, I would say just try them a few times and see how they are.......

Sorry for the ramble but I am really pleased with the Tesco service I have recieved and just wanted to make sure you had the correct info to make a decision...

Mel, I've had a few Tesco deliveries and always been pleased with them, always on time and no mistakes (touch wood!). Last week I couldnt get a voucher code to work for me and customer services sorted it out straight away and took the £5 off my order. Great service.

I'll no doubt stick with Tesco for most of my online shopping, but it would be nice just to have a change. Will give Asda a try and let you know how I get on. ;)

I use Asda and have very few problems. I used to use Tesco and it was much worse. I think it probably varies from area to area. Worth trying both and seeing which you like best.

It probably depends on the shop your delivery is coming from. Our local asda is fairly small so I get quite a few substitutes which is annoying.
The tesco website has been crashing on me lately so I've not ordered from them recently, most likely my computer is just getting to old to cope.
Tesco seem to do better vouchers and codes but I only get asda when I've a free delivery code. I never have any decent codes for Sainsbury's, but their lovely delivery man takes the shopping right into the kitchen for me!

I think thats true Pollybear, hope this area is one of the good ones!

Nodwah, I'd be in heaven if I could get sainsburys delivery too!! ;)

Any recommendations as to good asda own brand or value things?
