Asda v Tesco online

Hi Rosieben well I'm that old that I first started online shopping(home delivery sorry!) with Tesco's when it was done over the phone lol anyone else remember that???? You used to get an A4 folder with barcodes..right kerfuffle :rotfl: The poor girls on the end of the phone used to spend hours taking my orders..Then progress we went online :j Until they changed us over to a warehouse delivery we always had perfect orders, regular drivers, very few subs, now its a bit hit and miss but mostly still good..
I have however used Asda a few times, but bless 'em they've never turned up ontime or with anything like my full order although the drivers are lovely:T but these orders are still picked instore as far as I know and my local store is a nightmare never got staff or stocks!!

Wow!!! I have just discovered that I can get a sainsbury's delivery, too! I love sainsbury's; I find their produce to be of a very good quality.
Thanks rosieben for starting this thread or else I wouldn't have discovered that

Definately trial and error, depends which stores you use and sometimes even down to what picker/packer/driver you get as I have heard staff say they'll just throw subs in if they can not be bothered to find it. I've been in store on the day of a delivery in Tesco, them have loads of an item I have ordered for delivery then them not send the right one and send a sub.
I've had a worse experience with Tesco than any other, more substitutions, incorrect items, late, dumping shopping at the bottom of the steps then driving off etc. Asda have always been very good. Substitutions when I order smart price and they send a decent brand I don't mind at all as with Asda you don't pay the difference, best was shampoo, I ordered 8 bottles of smart price (stocking up) they sent 7 bottles of Pantene (nearly £3 a bottle) I paid for smart pricenot moaning. Second worst was Sainsbury's mainly because of a rude driver.
I do tend to go for whichever had the best offers at the time www.mysupermarket.com can help. One day I might be more organised...........

My best sub happened last time I did an online shop *too many weeks ago* and they had no potatoes, they sent ....noodles :rotfl:
Driver did comment it wasn't the worst he'd seen as he'd just delivered a supersize packet of condoms to an 86 year old :rotfl:0 -
Tesco's I think is far better than Asda. Their CS is excellent and if ever I have a problem, they refund and sort out it immediately. Sainsburys is great too but I dont often shop online there as they dont do many voucher codes.

As far as price comparisons go, I do my online shop thru My Supermarket & it compares Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury/Ocado, to my surprise I find Tesco often cheaper than Asda & always cheaper than Sainsbury/Ocado.
Might be worth doing it thru there first, then you will be more certain that you are getting the best value for money

I only ever used Asda once. I had just got my first ever debit card and was desperate to be able to shop online. I did a big order for about £50 and booked Sunday morning because I was ordering all my Sunday lunch items.
Someone from Asda phoned me on the Sunday morning and told me that they couldn't deliver that day after all and I could cancel or have it Monday morning. So we had chips for tea and I waited for the order to come Monday. Half of it had been substituted but the worst was that they tried to take the payment twice and I went over-drawn.
When I phoned customer services they told me they always take 2 payments if you are a first time customer to make sure you have the money to pay. Eventually they refunded it to me but it took weeks.
I love Tesco on the other hand especially as they will bring it upstairs right to my kitchen for me and the delivery is always at the beginning of the time slot.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Such a postcode lottery isn't it. What a mixed bag of experiences on here. Wish our Tesco drivers were as nice, when I've ordered there was only once when they even brought it to the door, rest just dumped it at the bottom of the drive or the steps (there was 7 at the old house to the door).
Agree with comparing prices, depends what I am ordering as to which works out cheapest, I'm always very aware aswell that sometimes one can seem cheaper than the other because of package size difference etc aswell. One day I might be more organised...........

Lilme you just reminded me about pack sizes: our asda only seems to have the small ones online for things like hot choc powder. We go through loads of that and I always want the biggest sizes.
The other thing is that you can't add a note to the picker to say have a root through the whoops section and see what's reduced!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
i have never used tesco because i worked at the local store on nights and saw what the dot-com pickers got up to and could probably guarntee id probably end up with a rubbish order delivered with nothing i actually wanted and all the rubbish fresh stuff.
I have however used asda and found that it is a postcode lottery... as ive had some fabulous deliveries from one store.... and some terrible ones when they have come from a different one. It also depends on day of delivery/pickers attitude/drivers attitude etc. so its always hit and miss!
But i do love asda "price match" policy i once got a HUGE premium gammon joint - over twice the size of the smartprice one id ordered - for the smartprice price!!
I have had sainsburys deliveries too when they have sent me codes and their service was brill will no subs... BUT they dont do codes often and i dont online shop unless i get at LEAST free delivery!lol
