I think the main thing is newcomers can't quite believe how friendly this forum can be .......therefore think it has to be cliquey............but stick your toe in and you'll find it's just nice and friendly;)
This was certainly my experience, having been a member of numerous forums/groups etc in my time on t'internet, and it was a pleasant surprise to find the cliqueyness is just non-existant on MSE!!!!
I've said this before, and I still stand by it, that MSE appears to have a unique set of members that I've yet to ever discover on any other online forum, no matter how big!!!! In fact MSE is the largest (member wise) forum that I've ever experienced, and to be so friendly is an absloute credit!!!!
I am in fact a moderator on a few forums with a fraction of the number of members and it's a complete headache to keep the peace!!!!!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

One of the reasons the title of the thread is true is because people can see the thread title on the forum front page and go to read it, like I've done three times now. So it's self-sustaining. There were a couple of other threads I've looked at or, as is suggested, heard about elsewhere.
This is my first post in this part of MSE forums. I can only echo what the others have said about the Arms; to begin with I didn't know where to join in with people that had obviously 'known' each other for ages. It's probably the same here from what you are all saying, with a couple of recent fraught moments.
The smallest forum I'm in has about 230 members. I'm about no. 125, having joined in Dec last year. MSE seems to have, despite its size, that same small feel and friendliness most of the time, and I imagine if I looked closer especially here, so I hope your recent problems here are behind you.0 -

As you've just arrived in this part of the forum why not introduce yourself in the "Getting to Know You" thread, which is a sticky at the top of Money Saving Old Style? Big welcome from me.
