Don't people who qualify (irrespective of supplier) get a letter telling them they qualify? And on the reverse of that letter is a list of suppliers within the scheme. So if you are not with a qualifying supplier you switch before the end Feb 2020 to make sure you get the discount.

    Anyone with such a letter?
No, i've never received a letter telling me i qualified when i was with SSE and always claimed for the WHD. It was just added to my energy account.

Sorry but its NOT taxable benefit, ignore # 18
Indeed, it's not taxable at all and HMRC would be unaware of it but from what I can see a Warm Home Discount does include an amount for VAT, perhaps a compensatory amount. I wonder if this is what the poster at post #18 was thinking of.

I get a Warm Home Discount (with EDF) and at one time a payment of WHD would show on my fuel statement as:

The Warm Home Discount – Support Plus scheme rebate of £140.00 has been credited to your account. This is made up of £133.33 plus £6.67 VAT

You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity. Contact your supplier to find out.
