lol. Yes they were.

They were PCN's to start with. Charges of £60 each.

Then it turned into a PCN and NTK (Notice to Keeper). Still there is the charge, now £100.

Currently there's demand for actual payment statements. And of course the charge, now £160, each.

IANAL but, if this went to court imo it could go either way. It is neither a penalty not a fine, it is a claim for a breach of contract, for the damage they allege they suffered as a result of your actions. A judge may decide you were a party to a contrct, he/she may not, it depends on the wording of thee sign, and how a judge interprets it and the lease/AST.

I note the word "normally" in the lease, you may be able to use this to your advantage, read this.

That's exactly what they were.

But you already knew what I meant, I'm sure.

My brain hasn't managed to completely and wholly familiarise itself with the world of parking charges and fines, least of all parking charges and fines terminology. Despite it being totally relevant to me now.

And still, I'm almost non the wiser. I guess I will wait for a court letter to show up then make another forum post about receiving a court letter with respect to a £460 charge.

odds on the parking signs are lacking in some way, such as being prohibitive, if your not sure what that means, just post a picture

I understand this. Although there hasn't been much I could have done in the intervening time. Be it waiting for a response that never came, or not having anywhere to go since time for appealing as elapsed long ago.

The signage is actually pretty clear with around 4-5 signs on the side of the building. Again though, being a resident, I never paid attention to these as such.

By the sounds of it now, given the lack of continued response from those that initially replied to my post, the advice given is to sit and wait for court letters.

Surely there should be someone I can go to or write to to avoid this.

There really isn't anyone, although your MP might have some marginal influence.

To guarantee avoidance, the only thing you can write is a cheque!

Is your estate agent the managing agent for the property responsible for employing the PPC?


If so complain to them and ask them to get the pcns cancelled


That is your only thing to do aside from ignoring everything except a LBCCA or Court correspondence (or paying up! Not recommended!)


They have 6 years to start legal proceedings against you


If you have used your real name as your forum name then ask MSE to change it to something anonymous


The ppcs monitor here and can use posts in your thread against you in Court
