I still have yet to receive any information back regarding my appeal to MET. Will I receive this by email? I don't remember giving MET an email address in my appeal process but I may be mistaken. When I click on their appeals section of the website, it gives me a 404 error.

    Check the BPA Cop

Met have 35 days to reply , although it's not enforced

If you gave an email , they may reply and it may arrive in your spam folder
  • I believe I submitted via their 'appeal' section on the website, so it technically wasn't an email (although I might have put an email in one of the required fields so they can reply). Will have to wait and see I suppose

MET have form for pretending that a rejection email was sent, then attaching it a month too late to use the POPLA code they reckon they emailed all along.

See another thread from today about that.

  • Hello everyone (again!). It is finally the 2nd september, so Paul should be back.

The email I will send is as follows:
    To Mr Paul Pomroy,

I attempted to send an email to yourself on the 23rd of August, but my email was passed down to other staff members as I believe you were on annual leave. The reply I received was very generic and did not directly respond to my case, so I have decided to wait until today (02/09) to resend the email.

On the 10th August 2019, myself and a group of friends visited the McDonalds chain on [ADDRESS HIDDEN]. This particular branch happens to be based in the middle of where the group lives, so is more often than not where we meet up for a meal and socialise.

During this particular visit, our group was trying out the new range of products that McDonalds had released at the time. It had also been quite some time since we had met, which also explains the lengthy duration of our stay on this particular day.

A few days after this visit, myself and another driver in our group received a letter from MET parking (notice number [HIDDEN], car registration [HIDDEN]) stating that we had to pay £100 due to an overstay in the car park of 24 minutes (the maximum stay is 90 minutes, and on this occasion we stayed for 114 minutes).

Both myself and the other members of the party can only help but feel this is a vast punishment for a simple mistake made by paying customers, especially considering that no monetary value was lost to both MET parking or the McDonalds in question, as the parking services are ‘free’ and even offer (I have since found out) a prolonged parking stay if one notifies the manager in store before leaving the premises. My attempts at speaking to a manager in store after receiving the notice were brushed off and I was instead told to contact MET. If necessary I can provide proof in the form of an online banking transaction receipt showing that I was a paying customer on the day of the notice.

I can completely understand that precautions need to be put in place to stop manipulation of the parking area at the McDonalds in question, but I can only help but feel disappointed by the severity of the punishment given, the fact that our meal attracted a £100 surcharge and the way in which my case was originally dealt with - especially given the fact that others in the same circumstances as with my case have had their notices removed through the same means I attempted. It is for these reasons that I am writing to you to inquire as to if there is any possibility that the parking charge notice could be waived on this particular occasion.

    Thank you for your consideration,
    [NAME HIDDEN]

Any feedback? I intend to send as is, hopefully with more successful results :)

Remove your name from that. You don't want it on show.
  • Yeah I noticed after I hit send that it had my notice numbers, parking reg and name in - I've censored them here

For the actual email I'll remove the name fully thanks

    What?

For the actual email you aren't putting your name? What's the point then?

  • My email received yet again another response by a 'senior customer services advisor', and I was told again that 'we are unable to deal with any specifics or cases on an individual basis'. Clearly this isn't the case, and I don't understand why both of my emails addressed to Paul have been intercepted by others.

What should my next steps be? I still have yet to receive any information from MET.
  • Another poor response.

I would send another email for the personal attention of Paul Pomroy reiterating your disappointment with the response and your disgust at being lied to by his customer services.
Also how you and your family no longer feel welcome at his restaurant as your meals come with a £100 surcharge.

On a positive note AFAIK MET don’t do court at present so ignore any debt collector letters.
