Yes clear blue skies here in Valliland.

    Welcome eyebright and smallholding.

Coffee drunk, a couple of chapters of my book read, now to haul myself out of my pit. Shower time.

  • Morning all,

DS dropped at holiday club, washing on the line, taking DD to the pictures shortly.

I have sent some emails and texts this morning which crosses some tadpoles off my list as well.

Right, need a cuppa and to put the DW on. Have lovely days all x

    Morning all!

Back from lovely weekend away, got back late last night, slight delay and v bumpy flight due to winds:eek: bit scary but home now. House was all left nice and clean and tidy, as we go away for our main holiday in 2 weeks I need to keep it that way!

    So far today I have...

WM x 2 done and pegged out
    WM number 3 swishing now
Small food shop done, did my menu plan and list while on the plane last night! Involved a bit of guesswork as to what we had in but a quick check of the cupboards showed I was fairly accurate so all good. I am going to aim to run down the freezer over the next couple of weeks, should keep the food bill down and I may be able to defrost the one freezer and switch it off while we are away... very MSE!
Collected cats from cattery, they are both sulking now but they will come round later.
All bits and bobs unpacked and put away including the bags
    Morning of paid stuff done

After work I will do the kitchen, it’s not bad but I want to do the cupboard fronts etc etc
Washing will hopefully be dry so I can put in to airing cupboard. DH will do the ironing at some point.

Caught up on last weeks thread but don’t remember everything. Hugs, congratulations, commiserations on their way as needed.

Back later with kitchen progress report!

Forgot I had an ebay sale to post so packed that up and also popped some stuff to CS while out. 'Accidentally' bought a Caithness vase though while in there (only£2).
Have sorted out a cupboard in kitchen and removed DS's sandwich maker. This has now been cleaned and will go in his box. Bagged up 20 law books which I'm hoping to take to Oxfam as we don't seem to be able to sell them - postage would be so much. Just need him to agree.
    So not done kitchen yet.

  • Evening all, not been as crazy busy today as I thought I would be - which is reflected below in what I've achieved today. We do still have the dining room if dumping doom - but I will sort that when hubby has gone to work on Wednesday and is out of my hair! (And can't tell me not to put stuff in the cellar)

    Monday's list
[STRIKE]Wash all washing[/STRIKE]4 loads in the end
[STRIKE]Hang all wet washing up[/STRIKE]took it to the laundrette to be dried as we kept having heavy showers and no where near enough space inside to hang up 4 loads. A few bits that can't be tumbled on the aired in the bathroom
    [STRIKE]Put all dry washing away
    Take Pickle swimming (4pm lesson)
    Recycling out
    Unpack all holiday stuff[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Prep for work on Tuesday[/STRIKE]emails checked - no nasty surprises awaiting me.
    [STRIKE]Tidy living room[/STRIKE]
Tidy dining room officially now the room of doom
    [STRIKE]Tidy kitchen[/STRIKE]several times it feels.
    Tidy hall, [STRIKE]stairs & landing[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Tidy bathroom
    Tidy Pickle's bedroom
    Tidy our bedroom[/STRIKE]
    Tidy Loft office
    [STRIKE]Meal plan
Food shop - make it cheap![/STRIKE] £20 including some husband smuggling!
Wash swimming stuff in the washing machine waiting for enough to make a load
[STRIKE]Contact plumber re: shower[/STRIKE]coming tomorrow night to have a look.

    Extras done:
    Sorted the coat hooks
Took two coats in to be mended
Bought extra long screws for reattaching the light switches etc Post plastering.

    At some point this week
    Repack swimming bag
Sweep front yard & do its usual tidy routine
[STRIKE]Big bags of rubbish to tip
    Old office chair to tip[/STRIKE]
Find a home (cellar?) for the pushchair Pickle is officially out of the pushchair now
Tidy, sweep & sort back yard
Clear out my car? cant remember what state I've left it in
Pack up and post wellies to friend
    Write a list for joiner
    Contact joiner
    Buy bedroom wallpaper
Choose living room & dining room colours
House insurance renewal? if renewal documents arrive from current provider
    Get shredder back from friend
    Shredding
Test reel to reel tape machine

Not bad - working all day tomorrow so this list is likely to roll over into Wednesday when some stuff I've done today and yesterday will need doing again - I hate the washing cycle - it really is never ending.

    Have a great evening everyone.
    Wish.

    Welcome Eyebright!
Bummer about the flooring, Julie Jim. My OH is occasionally 'helpful' with the same kind of result. I've learned to say thank you and smile. Poor chaps; they don't do anything so they get a rollicking eventually, and when they do help without asking what was actually needed with the absolute best of intentions but ....

Up early as OH was away for 30 hours so I had a lovely long break yesterday afternoon and was busy busy busy this morning degibbling various places before I had to go out. It all looks a lot better.

Layla's recall is still non-existent so I take her to a secure field to exercise her - she's learning to run, and I'm teaching her recall. Today she decided she needed to find out exactly where the rabbit she saw three weeks ago went to and discovered, as I'd suspected, that the fence under all the brambles (huge, huge area) has collapsed. (The last time our family dog got lost he was killed a week later on the M20, and that was 49 years ago - his name was Jack, a lovely, friendly Collie, and I still mind) I was devastated when I knew Layla had disappeared despite me calling and calling and calling but I'd had a long conversation with our dogwalker last week about exactly how the group she belongs to finds lost dogs so I followed her procedure to the letter. Layla was found about 15 minutes later by someone I'd spoken to and all was well. I'm cancelling the excercise field booking, obviously, because now she knows how to escape she'll do it again. It's not worth them refencing just for us, and most dogs don't need this level of security because they're not as green as Layla is. A really, really bad 15 minutes for me, though, and I won't forget them in a hurry.

Then dentist, not all good news but not as bad as I was expecting, then shopping. I'm now shattered.
    Better is good enough.

  • I have a basket of matched socks. Co-opted Himself to go through his drawer and throw out ones with holes in and to match up some of the orphaned ones and then he threw the odds/holey ones all out. (in honesty, I'd lost the will to continue matching black socks by comparing width of bands and stitching so had given up by then and snuck some that probably had pairs somewhere in the pile).

Vacuumed bedroom, including the lampshade, the landing, first steps of the stairs and the cobwebs in both as well as the bathroom.

Emptied the drawers and vacuumed those. Still have to start putting clothes back in them, but they're empty and ready to go.

Tired with just doing that, so I'm done for the day.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
