I spent £1 yesterday on some anti bac spray from £ shop and £3 on some chocolate & sweets from there (naughty but not usual for me).
Will need to get some bits today as some of DH’s family are coming in the afternoon and we always have nibbles at these things (we take turns to host). Last night I made 2x loaves of lovely bread and a batch of hummus in prep which will at least save some cashbut I need to go out for a bit this morning plus I am very tired from getting up all night with a baby who has a cold so I think any further nibbles will be shop bought
Last night DH made bolognaise for dinner and saved half of it for another meal so that’s one day next week sorted (was a 500g pack and we find that does our family of two adults and two tiny people for two meals if we have plenty veg in it).Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Yesterday was my first day of my spending budget and had guessed £75 for butcher - it actually came in at £79, everything is now cooked, prepped and frozen. Tesco shop was £68 and that should see us pretty much through the week. Today will be baking day - banana loaves, rock buns and a Victoria sponge, along with flap jacks. Half will go in the freezer to be used as and when we need it later in the week. Heading out for a walk later so will take a container for brambles, as I have some apples there, so will look at a crumble for dinner some evening.
Organised enough for the rest of the week that there should be no visits to the shop.
Menu for today - Wednesday:
Breakfast - yogurt and fruit
Lunch - barley broth
Dinner - cottage pie and home grown Broccolli.
Monday ;
Breakfast - porridge and fruit
Lunch - baked potato, beans, cheese
Dinner - omolette and salad and wedges
Tuesday
Breakfast - porridge and fruit
Lunch -.wrap with salad and chicken mayo
Dinner - stovies with chopped lamb and home grown peas
Wednesday
Breakfast - yogurt and fruit
Lunch - tomato and red pepper soup
Dinner - roast beef, roast potatoes and veg,
Fruit and home baking for snacks.
Pretty much organised for a change!

Gosh already on page three and I've only just moved over to this thread. I must go back and catch up reading the posts later but can you put me down for £290 for September. It's less than last month but hopefully doable as I've planned to eat mainly from the freezer as I've loads of 'turkey bits' from last year and I need the space for home grown fruit and veg. Must go, the turkeys arrive later today and I need to make sure everything is ready for them.0

Starting this month with a spend of £8.38/£40 - should see me through the week as well as start to restock my tinned tomato and pasta reserves. I've moved over to the asda SP spaghetti as at 20p a packet it's too good to pass up, even if I do prefer fusilli...Grocery Challenge

Hi everyone,
I used to take part in these challenges but have fallen massively off the waggon. With retirement getting closer (24 months away, GW) I need to save as much as possible and get back into the habit. Please put me down for £175 2 adults and a cat. I will include all food, plus basic toiletries and household cleaning materials. Our month runs 1st - 30th September.
Thank you very much

I hope I'm not too late to join in?
Due to a drop in salary I'm looking to reduce our shopping bill and aim to keep it to £150 for the month. This is for me and hubby. We're very fortunate in that hubby's work place provides a fully stocked pantry so he has lunch there during the week at no cost to us.
I've been to Asda this morning and managed to get the essentials for £24.50, so a good start :0)They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

Hello
Have been and shopped for the week but I think it is more than likely going to spill over into the month so bought a few things to last.
Total spend is £33.87, therefore money left in budget for month is £97.86, very happy with this as it leaves a total of £4.25 a day not including the 8 days we are away.
Meals this week are:
Sunday - HM from freezer Steak pie and chips/mash, veg and gravy
Monday - HM from freezer Lasagne and chips/garlic bread
Tuesday - Sausage roll, tomato and chips
Wednesday - Quiche, bake pots, lettuce and tomatoes
Thursday - Bacon, egg and chips or Quiche if any left over or bacon, mush and mash pie with cheese
Friday - Hot dogs with HM rolls from freezer
Saturday - Cod, peas and chips
Lunches will be sandwiches made from tuna, cheese, ham (from gammon joint) and egg. Also homemade pizza's, or cheese toasties.
Breakfast is cereal.
I am living on fruit, veg, wholegrain rice, chicken and pitta bread and milk, of which runner beans and tomatoes from the garden.
Afters for DH will be sponge pudding and custard, rock cakes, slice of Victoria sandwich cake.
Items I may need as the month progresses:
Toilet rolls
Dog food
Milk
Butter
Cheese
Yogurt/s
Budget looking good so farWeight loss 6lb/16lb 10lb to goI spend an insane amount of time wondering if I am doing it right, sometimes I remind myself that I am doing my best....and that is enough0 -
Well I've been a forum member for years now but hardly ever post or read. All that changes from today I hope.
We are three adults but due to holidays etc we will be averaging 2.1 people for each day. So I'll budget for two. And, shamefully, I have no idea what my budget should be. I just go shopping whenever and buy whatever I fancy. So maybe if I set the first budget at £200 and see how we go.2025 April £257/£300
May £255.24/£250
June £243/£230 NEED TO CHECK RECEIPTS TO BE SURE
