September 2019 Grocery Challenge

Please can I join Elsiepac? Thank you for setting this challenge.
My budget for September is £450.
£450 for the two of us sounds rather a lot, my 'excuses' are;- Hubby and I are retired and we don't usually eat out (so for this year we've on average spent under £15 a month on eating out),
- We like a bit of drink (probably half bottle of wine between us per day) and a couple of shots of scotch (we've got the scotch in an optic, making sure our wrist doesn't slip when pouring out a scotch) - drink is included in the budget
- Our dog has irritable bowel, this means we've to be careful what we feed him. I cook half his diet which can be best priced chicken/beef/rabbit/turkey and rice, this comes out of our grocery budget. (His expensive hypo-allergic dog food, the other half of his diet, comes out of a different budget)
- Hubby loves fruit, he'll graze all day on fruit if it's there. With not going shopping so often, I might make a saving
- I bake 3 loaves of bread every 6 days or so (one goes in the freezer for later), we love it with different seeds - the seeds are about 10% of the quantity. Strong bread flour is the supermarket's cheapest using a whole 1.5 kg bag for the 3 loaves. I do find baking my own is much cheaper.
In 2018 when I didn't have a grasp of a budget, I spent average of £651 a month
So far this year, the monthly average is working out to be £490.0 - Hubby and I are retired and we don't usually eat out (so for this year we've on average spent under £15 a month on eating out),

Not been part of this thread for many years, but things need to be tightened up in our spending. There's me and my OH, and my gds three days a week. I am looking at a budget of £400 for the month of September. This will include a £50 stash value for Brexit prepping. So we will have Butchers £75, Brexit £50. And roughly £60 per week for everything else.
We have an allotment, although it's just about past, I still have some veggies available, and there are lots of brambles around also. The jam and chutney cuoboard is full, and the baking necessities are well stocked up, so all in all fingers crossed for a budgeted September.Every days a School day!0 -
Hi Can I be in with a budget of £240 please?
I was made redundant yesterday and my husband can't work so we will literally have zero income if I don't find work in the next 7 weeks
Going to make a freezer/cupboard list to meal plan from. I'll do the first shop today£36/£240

Since the only fresh veg we have in the house are onions and a handful of mushrooms, I'll be adding a quarter of a bag of frozen mixed veg to the sauce as well as an onion and all the mushrooms. It'll be served on Bulgar wheat.

I've literally never heard of that, but it sounds tasty - is there a specific recipe you use for it?Hi Can I be in with a budget of £240 please?

Updating our spends today where I went over on our August budget, Septembers budget is £150 so the remainder left for the whole of September is £131.73, we are away for a week of that and the majority of meals are in the freezer already, just need milk, fruit etc. have got enough bread flour and butter so am hoping we can stay well within budget, fingers crossed anywayWeight loss 6lb/16lb 10lb to goI spend an insane amount of time wondering if I am doing it right, sometimes I remind myself that I am doing my best....and that is enough0
