Advice is the same as the other threads you find when you search the forum for:

    Horizon claim

Change the default advanced search to SHOW RESULTS AS POSTS.

There was one yesterday or the day before that you can learn from, but you must also read the NEWBIES thread post #2 in depth so you know what to do, and how, and when and who to send stuff to, and to be prepared for the later stages like WS & evidence, before your actual hearing.

  • That's fantastic Keith thank you ever so much. I am on it now. I already have a Government Gateway account, however since this claim is for the keeper of the vehicle-my other half, will she need to sign up for an account or can I do this for her on mine?

The person named on the claim form has to respond to this. Whilst you can assist it all has to be in her name.

She must set up her OWN account or the wrong person is acknowledging and it will all end in tears as the D will be deemed NOT to have done the AOS!

Thanks Waamo, I have just set up her GG account and filed the AoS online as advised on this thread. Now looking at the defence side of things. My wife is actually originally from China and whilst her English is great, I fear she may struggle with legal jargon in court. Is there a way I can prepare her for this? Would I be able to enter court with her and support? This is actually my biggest concern out of this whole situation.

Search the forum for lay rep. You can attend with her and be her voice.

I lay repped for StubbornGoat last week at Worthing court (see his thread, which was also about a useless template Gladtones claim, and was won).

The Defendant just has to sit there too and cannot speak. You just tell the Usher on arrival on the day.

  • Another point, since the defendant is based in Birmingham, is there a way that this could be held in a more local court such as Birmingham County Court? Or will this actually be arranged automatically anyway-I ask this since I've read that these cases are held at courts most local to the defendants?

It will be automatically transferred to your nearest court.

You are able to choose your court when you complete the DQ.
