Indeed Quentin everyone does have an opinion, and mine is based on over 30 years experience helping people sort out messes they get themselves into.

IMO OP might struggle to contest this in court.

CM and I are poles apart in out attitude to risk.
Really? I am the least risk averse person I know and really think life is too short for entertaining scammers and time-wasters. I have a healthy attitude to risk and would give anything a punt if I thought it was morally or financially right.

However I do not assume that beating every PPC in court is going to be a walk in the park; it takes work, as do POPLA appeals, and I do not recommend people just ignore PPCs and let them sue.

I never tell people to pay unless there is a Q in the month.
With the others, we didn't receive them within 14 days because we were away. Does that count?
    No.
If I still appeal to POPLA and loose, I can ignore letters unless it's a court claim.
Of course, people do this ALL The time! Search the forum for POPLA LOST as your keywords and read some threads.
Are you saying there is no CCJ risk? Will this effect our credit rating?
Nope, none at all. As long as you tell Initial if you move house,so you see every letter for 6 years, and do NOT ignore court papers/deadlines, then you CANNOT get a CCJ, even if you lost at a hearing (because you would pay within 30 days - almost unheard of here but those people still get NO CCJ!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Can't claim this 39 years was spent fighting ppcs!

Which is what we are discussing here!

But it's acknowledged that you are entitled to an opinion of course

Nope, it just takes me to a 'Get the App' page. I don't want the App!

It looks like the url you've pasted needs some extension to it, such as the file reference to the photo(s) you've uploaded there.

Sorry I can't get them up.
I have decided not to mention my mum's disabled badge in the appeal as she is worried about it. From the above comments, it won't make a difference to the appeal anyway.
Can anyone tell me if I lost at hearing, how much I would be expected to pay? If it was the £60 per ticket, I wonder if it's worth all the hassle....

Initial are a new parking firm who I think, have never sued anyone an even if it did go to court these are defendable on the basis that you can say the signs are unclear next to the disabled bays (can't have been clear if you parked there 5 times and no-one ever saw a clear notice, telling you to pay and a machine within easy reach with arrows pointing to it).

From holidays in Newquay, I vaguely know Fistral Beach from when it had ParkingEye, then Smart Parking there and the machines were not near the disabled bays, so I expect the machines are in the same place now Initial are infesting it.

We win 99% of well defended cases but if they tried a claim they'd try for a typical £160 per PCN. Unlikely to get it. Well worth defending!

why would anyone consider paying a 3 figure sum to make this go away? It's not difficult to use our templates and Initial are so new to the game, they are not great at POPLA stage and might fail anyway against our efforts!

Please stop thinking that paying sixty quid per PCN is an option, a bargain.

    It's not.

I just had an idea, a tactic to catch them out on a technicality.

How about sending BY POST an appeal in Mum's name for the 3 that are POFA ones...enclosing a copy of her Blue Badge, and her appeal says 'we parked and saw nothing to say a disabled Blue Badge holder like myself had to pay, and no machines were near the disabled bays'.

Listing all 3 PCNs at the top (carefully making sure it's the right 3). The reason to use post for those ones, is so she doesn't have to tick a box to declare driver/keeper or whatever.

I reckon they will send Mum a POPLA code for those three, then she can appeal to POPLA proving that she was neither the driver nor the keeper! I think a new PPC might fall for that. Even better if she can't drive.

I would do that, but give YOUR address for Mum in the letter, so YOU get the reply and she has no cause to worry at all. One letter for 3 PCNs, one stamp and keep a free certificate of posting (from the PO Counter, not 'signed for').

Then the other two, the keeper appeals online as per the NEWBIES thread template to hook a POPLA code for those two, and then those two POPLA appeals spell out to POPLA how the keeper can't be liable due to the timing.

This isn't hassle, we do it voluntarily and enjoy it! It's called scam beating.

Don't join them, don't FUND and sponsor the scam against the next people.

    I will try this.
With the other two that I do online. They ask for a reason:
eg I have a valid ticket that was clearly on display
eg I was authorized to park
eg There was no signage at the carpark
Do I go for this last one?
