Becoming sick whilst on holiday

I've been ill on holiday. It never crossed my mind to tell the agent/ tour operator first. I didn't even tell the rep. They couldn't do anything to make me better. We contacted a doctor.
Given that it was passed between the three of you it sounds like some sort of stomach bug. If your son was ill two days after arriving he could actually have had it when you travelled, or caught it anywhere en route. D&V spreads very easily. You shouldn't even share towels, and you should stay out of a swimming pool for at least 2 weeks after the last symptoms. The advice is also to stay off school or work for 2 days after you last had symptoms.0 -
If 0P provided as little information to Thomas Cook as she has here then it's no surprise that they are finding it difficult to investigate. Did they visit a doctor? What was the diagnosis? Is there any evidence to link the illness to the hotel?0

We cross posted but might you speak to a rep on a package holiday to help you get in touch with a local doctor if you were unexpectedly unwell?0 -

I'm not sure I'd trust most of the reps I've com across to organise a you-know-what in a brewery but I guess it depends on how seasoned a holiday-maker you are.Hello everyone this is my first post.
I went on holiday to fuerteventura at the end of March 2019 for a week. Whilst we were there my son became poorly after 2 days of being there and was being sick, my husband was then poorly 2 days after him and then I was poorly after him. We booked our holiday via Thomas cook and they had even us a telephone number to contact to get help if we become unwell on hold is which I did but never got a reply to my messages. I even advised the holiday rep in the hotel. When I got back I filed a complaint which I have chased up a couple of times now to be told that due to the nature of the complaint the specialist team don’t have a timeframe and will get back to me in due course. It has now been nearly 5 months and I’m still waiting for a response. It quite frankly spoilt our holiday and at the time owls 7 months pregnant. Has anyone had the same issue and if so what did you do to get the specialist team to look at your case.
Thank you for reading.
Lots and lots of questions addressed to the OP by a number of posters - I'm not sure we can go much further without answers.0 -
I'm sure a couple of grand will make them all feel better.0

Exactly. The days of reps being anything more than sales orientated are long gone.0 -
I went to Portugal earlier this year, was ill the day I got home ( campylobacter) ended up with 2 weeks off work was very poorly.
I didn’t look to blame anyone ( have no idea where I got it from) , why are we in such a blame/ compo culture0 -

No she won't because she hasn't been told what she wants to hear.0
